I'd very much agree with not having a desire to go on a 'Walmart camping trip'... However have many times appreciated that there are so many Walmarts directly off the interstates with big parking lots, with lot's of security cameras and that they don't go out of their way to give people the boot when they need a place to stop when the eyes start closing or the weather makes travel difficult!!!

Also keep your eye out for casino RV campgrounds.  Most also have parking lots for oversized vehicles (18 wheelers & such) and make for an easy overnight stay.  Lots of casino campgrounds are free and others charge only a nominal fee for full hookups.  Just an idea.

Very good tip, thank you.  This is actually ironic... Just a few weeks ago DW and I went to our local casino for dinner, on the way out we commented on the large parking area with a few RV's in it... Good to know, while it's only a few minutes away from our home, I can't back the unit in after dark and it's awesome to have somewhere so close to home to stop until morning!

Not sure if it hasn't changed but we always preferred casino camping to Walmart or others for overnite parking. We were well prepared and kind of preferred dry camping. The biggest advantage of casino camping was: when we arrived I would go inside and request permission and location to park, then register as a casino club member. If it was a new to us casino, we would usually get a free dinner and free plays on the slots. We were getting paid to park.

We have done the casino thing more than a few times. We never got more than a flat place to park. One place is memorable because we parked were we were told to and then a reefer truck parked next to us. When I fired up and move away, the rent-a-cop told me I could not park somewhere quiet. I do have it marked in my POI as a never to stop.

Another fan of Casino camping here. Only had one Casino that seemed keen on putting all the refer units next to the RV's, all the others were very welcoming and thoroughly enjoyed.

With modern restrictions, it's easiest to stay at home and (link removed Jackiemac)
One commercial
First there was Las Vegas
Then Atlantic City
Now Your Pocket

They are in the devil's own hurry to empty your bank account into their bank account any way possible.

Folks there is one, and only one, Vegas game where a SKILLED player stands a better than 50% chance of winning... Note I said SKILLED.. i'm not that skilled.

However I do know a "Cheat" that seems to work.. somewhat (You won't get rich but you also won't lose your shirt)
Play only so much (For me it's usually 5.oo) if you win pocket half and play with the remainder, Keep doing that, when you run out stop Do not dip back into the pocket. ALSO do not stick your loyality card in the machine.. Appears to change the odds no matter what they say.
I've spend about 8 weeks in Vegas and If I had to guess I'm within 100 dollars of even on the plus side.. Like i said NOT getting rich.

If anyone notices the edit notice.. I did not think I had a link in this post so to the moderator who removed it.. Thanks. (Don't know how it got there)

We go one better, only play with the freebees they give and cash any winnings. We do use their Dining facilities though as a way of payback for the pitch.

We have stayed in casinos parking lots, but we seldom go inside. I am really sensitive to tobacco smoke, both physically and mentally (my mom died of lung cancer), and I absolutely cannot tolerate it indoors. In all our years traveling, I have found only one casino where I didn’t have to walk through a miasma of smoke to get to the restaurant. I would enjoy dinner inside if I could do it without smoke. Sigh.
