Polaris 4-wheeler

The friendliest place on the web for anyone with an RV or an interest in RVing!
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Well this was actually not by choice we were hunting deer and had come up a mountain and when we topped out we were in it.  LOL  I have also been thru mud a foot and a half deep on the same hunt and that too can be almost as bad as the snow.    There were some mountain roads going up hill that are not easy when dry and we watched a few people try to climb them in ice and snow and it was a real comedy of errors.  Atv's are just like a 4x4 they will slip and slide in the bad stuff.

Looks like I'll be walking more then riding this year, sitting here at the computer all day is taking a toll on the body (I am getting fatter and lazier).

Does anyone around here ride 4-wheelers?

We have a Polaris Sportman 400, and we share ownership on a Yamaha Rhino. We mostly like to ride in the high country on camping trips, but my husband does some desert riding too. I do enjoy the opportunity to ride when at Quartzsite every January.

Thats a good way to pass the time, and would be lots of fun, not too familiar with desert riding though.

Long ago rode motorcycles and four-wheelers on the Oregon dunes while camping next to the dunes.

We are ATV and dirtbike riders. In fact, I just made my reservations for St. Joe State Park in Missouri which is a dedicated off road park with up to date facilities etc...  We have tons of options in the mid-west to ride which is fortunate.  Good to see an ATV forum in addition to the RV side.  Ride safe! ;D

Have fun riding at the park, hope you're more stable on the dirtbikes then I am, they just seem awkward after riding 4 wheelers for so long.

Photo of the views that I see around here.

Another quad rider here.  Mostly sand dunes.
Nice banshee.  I have 2005 YFZ 450 & 2000 400 EX. We also have a 2007 Yamaha Rhino Sport Edition. We spend most of the the winter weekends @ Glamis.  Where do you ride?

Little Sahara, OK.  It's in the northwest part of Oklahoma.  Very small area and dunes compared to what I hear about Glamis.  We've been trying to plan a trip out that way, but haven't been able to make it happen yet.  We did go to St. Anthony, ID this year though.  Waaaaay nicer than around here.

You need to come on a big weekend. Thanksgiving, Halloween or New Years.  You can't believe the things you see.  Every kind of vehicle imaginable.  There is a 4x4 boat several 4x4 50's era Caddy limos. Quads with street bike or snowmobile engines. It is an event, if you ever get a chance you have to come to Glamis @ least once in your life. Should you decide to come, let me know we can give you the tour. Oldsmobile Hill is a must.
Check out www.planetsidexside.com.  The dunes section, some pix of Glamis.

Bought a Can Am 400 Max 2 years ago for our trip to Mexico.  Had a blast!.  But we live up here in Washington and what  PITA.  More rules than you can shale a stick at.  Can't ride em on Forest Service roads, can't ride em except in designated ATV areas, can't can't can't.  Wonder how they sell so many up here.

Sounds just like the Washington State I remember.  Have they come up with a rule for the number of times one can flush yet? ??? ??? ;D

Since my post Nebraska passed a law allowing atv use on the street, Our little town of Fairbury passed an ordinance that lets us ride now. We can also ride on county roads in the area. ;D

In Arizona if the ATV is street legal, you can license it just like a motorcycle. Since the gas prices have gone up we're seeing a lot more of them running around town. I think there is a restriction on which roads you are allowed to travel on. I don't think you're allowed to take them on the interstates for example. Not sure about the road restrictions though.

The state has people on the payroll developing prohibitions for things nobody has even thought of doing yet.  Socialist Republic of Western Washington.

Im also in California. We usually hit Stoddard, Johnson Valley. Once in a great while Big Bear. Heading out to Salton Sea after Christmas. I ride a Yamaha 660R, and my daughter rides a Polaris 90. Its allot of fun. We usually go with friends, or family that also ride. We love it.

Good place to ride in Oklahoma is the Lake Murry area near Ardmore.  Easy riding or challenging depending on your desires.  Also good camping (full Hookups) at the designated atv area. I ride yamaha 450 4x4 -wife yamaha 350  4x4 bruin.  have fun ---joe

In places of Western Kansas the rule is "If it's pee let it be, if it's brown flush it down."  Also have all kinds of water restrictions.  When you can and can't water your yard or not at all, can't wash your vehicle at home - car wash only.  Get discounts for low flow hardware too.  They keep track of how many in your household and you are alotted a set amount, go over than and get penalized.  Anybody else lived with water restrictions??  I find as I move from place to place people look at me funny when I ask if there are any!!!

Places throughout Utah have restrictions in the worst of summer heat.  Some towns do not allow watering lawns but one day a week or some say only for a set amount of time in the mornings.  Some have restrictions on amount of use doubling or tripling the bill if it goes over the set amount.  Some of the car washes have gone to the recirculating systems reusing the water from the car washes for additional cars washes.

I ride a 4-wheeled golf cart - 2003 Club Car DS with 4" Jake's lift, knobby tires, rear seat, and light kit.

Another Polaris Owner here.  We have a 2004 Polaris Sportsman 700, and a 2005 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO.  Both are stump climbers.  I use the 700 for snow plowing, and have gone through 2 blades through the last 4 years.

We love to ride around the Taylor Reservour area North of Gunnison CO, and South of Aspen CO.
