Hi Guys, I have tons of maps from the Oregon Forest Service but they are difficult to read and understand
and we all know the quandary regarding where it is ok to stay and where it is not but no signs anywhere
to signify either way!!?  Anyone in the area have hands on experience..?
I am interested in the Eugene latitudinal area up and down the coast.

Well that was easy...  thanks Owl!  I did not know about that site..  Great!

I just started using the iOS app from these folks (cost $4 if I recall):

http://www.ultimatecampgrounds.com/uc3/index.php

So far this is the most comprehensive nationwide list of state and federal I've seen. Lat/long for each site plus links from each location to other sources of info for that site (campsitephotos, Google, Rec.gov etc) . Plus they have a POI list available for a couple more bucks so you can load the locations in your GPS. They have cataloged almost 30,000 camping locations. Very, very slick

Thanks Sun,    I love this forum!  I get the best info here!  I have been getting ready to go back to booning and
blasting off in a couple of weeks and somehow completely missed Ultimate Campgrounds..  Thanks for that..  looks great.
I'm looking at picking up the Garmin RV760 GPS    and UCG will work nicely integrated with it...

Welcome. I can't tell you how impressed I am with this app. Very fast, zoom in and out on an area, street or satellite views, links back to the applicable Forest Service location for more info, filters for the types of sites you want included in your search, etc. I've been on the app for a couple hours at a time just poking around looking for potential future boondocking/dry camping destinations.

Plus I've had interaction with their support via email, very quick and responsive. There isn't much now but they are slowly also adding users comments to visited sites, not reviews but things like how big of a rig will fit there etc.

Hey Scott,  I can see myself doing the same thing...  I already spend hours on G Earth and often use the Flight Sim mode..
I can use my Microsoft Flight Sim X Saitek Stick & Throttle  to do fly by's of places I may want to zoom to later...  It's a blast!
