Too Many Wires on Battery Terminals!!
« on: July 04, 2016, 09:20:55 AM »
Is there any way to consolidate or manage an increasing number of ring connectors on a single battery?
I did some improvements on my solar and everything went well until it was time to reconnect my battery.

Sure. Wire a terminal strip (bus bar) to the battery terminal and then make the connections to the strip.

Here's a site that offers a few types:

Hey Gary & tv, thanks for solving that one so quickly...  my new rig had no inverter but a good start to a great solar system so
yesterday I added my inverter...  just adding one connector to each post made that much difference...  pushed to the limit and
I had not prethought the situation through to that end..  as I was wrestling that unruly bunch of wires to the ground, I was thinking
about what I would need to do and I knew I had seen something but it never came to me at the time...  Bus bar..  Of course..  Excellent..
So when picking up such a piece, what about the specs..  right now I'm only running the single batt and about 150W of panels but
it won't be long and I'll be adding 2 more AGM batts and at some point, perhaps just upgrading the smaller wattage panels to larger to
get the most out of my TC roof real estate..  is there a particular spec I should be aware of or just a 12V unit with however many terminals...?

I find these very handy and appropriate for adding large cables to the positive battery terminals.  Your inverter will require the large fuse anyway, and it never hurts to fuse other cable runs that go out of sight.

As you can see, from the link, they come in one or two fuse configurations.

Select the fuse size appropriate for your circuit requirements.

Specs are basically the amps you expect to run through them, which obviously depends on what your set-up is.

If I were to advise..  Well.. let me put it this way.. The above is exactly what I did.
