AEP Campgrounds in Southeastern Ohio
« on: July 13, 2016, 09:59:22 PM »
This past week we were in the AEP reclamation area of southeastern Ohio.  AEP allows 14 days of free camping at their campgrounds.
Sounds great....The views are great.
BUT and with a BIG BUT!!!
We toured all but one campgrounds. which some would, with some skillful driving you could get a 30' RV in some of the sites.
No electric, no sewer...Pit toilets are at all campgrounds, some wells for water were not working.  Several we looked at had a fair size lake close by.

These are not big rig friendly.

A lot of tent camping and older 70's 80's campers seemed to be the rule at these campgrounds.

You are required to have a permit that can be downloaded or available at a bunch of local outlets.  The campgrounds are, they say, patrolled. We did not see any LEO's all afternoon.   There are campground hosts....some seems to care, a couple were simply old hippies needing a free spot for the season.

The old saying, "you get what you pay for!" applies here.
