My BF's Garmin is damaged, don't know how it happened.

When turned on, it looks like a cracked screen, only the (top) screen isn't damaged. I hope this makes sense. Only 2/3 of the screen data can be seen.

(1) Is it worth it to bother trying to get it repaired, and could an independent cell phone repair shop do this?
(2) He has no problem just replacing it with something else/a newer model, but wants the data transferred to the new unit.

I just use my cell phone for a GPS, so I know nothing about dedicated GPS'. TIA.

The 2595LMT is probably not economical to repair. Replacements available for about $100.
The data on the unit can be copied to PC then to another GPS fairly easy just using file manager. You can also back it up to "MyGarmin" if registered then log new one into "MyGarmin" and copy settings from old unit.
