Full time in RV. Home is where we are parked
Right now we are in Fairbanks and are finished with the ferry rides. We have had eight on and off stops which were a great deal of fun loading and unloading our 45; motor home. Our daughter and grandson flew to Juneau to spend two weeks and travel with us to Fairbanks.

While in Juneau, we were at an RV park right at the lake which is the base of the Mendenhall Glacier.

There is a stream that flows right through downtown Juneau where we were able to look down on spawning salmon. If you look closely, you can see the red salmon eggs that have been deposited in the stream bed between the fish.

The eagles were just down stream and were having a feast on the salmon carcass.

We took the ferry from Juneau to Haines and spent 5 days there. One of the local attractions was the Hammer Museum where they had over 2000 hammers on display and are storing another 500 which they hope to display in a new building.

While in Haines we took a 2 hour flight with Mountain Flying Service over the glaciers of Glacier Bay. It turnouts that Paul, the owner who was our pilot was the one who reported the massive landslide on June 28th on Johns Hopkins Glacier. We flew over it and the sight was quite impressive.

We took two days to drive from Haines to Fairbanks. Since arriving we have visited Gold Dredge #8 and taken the Riveboat Cruse. Both of these attractions are very well done, but designed to get the tourist to spend $$$s.

Chet, Did you go to Sitka? It's off the main Marine Hwy route but it's big cruise ship stop (not that that's a recommendation!).

We didn't go their with the motorhome last trip in 1998, but it was a stop on our cruise ship trip a long time ago (1986?).

Hi Ken. yes we spent a week in Sitka. A neat place.

Also here's a shot of the hi-speed catamaran ferry which we took from Sitka to Juneau. 14 1/2 hours on the st'd ferry vs 4 hours. It was traveling at 37 knots.

Here's a photo of the inside of the Sitka Russian Orthodox church. All of the icons are original and some date bate to the 1500's.

Chet,

Where are you?

We are in Watkins Glen headed to see Richard and Linda Tuesday then headed west.
I have an appointment with Elkhart Sales and Service to get a slide seal replaced.

Hi Ken,

Right now we're in Whitehorse. Been in Canada for over a week now and heading south tomorrow. We had rain everyday since 27JUL. Today is first day that rain isn't in the forecast. We're getting web feet.

Say HI to Richard & Linda for us. We were wondering how Richard is doing and planning to call them as soon as we get back to the states in about 10 days.

When you get to Elkhart, say Hi to PJ and Tom for us. PJ replaced our slide seals 3 years ago and everything has been great since then. No leaks.

Will do.

Sorry about the rain, but that's always a risk with Alaska. Our last trip we had beautiful weather, but I don't expect that for the next trip.
