Battery Disconnect for towing a Colorado

What type of battery disconnect switch is best for towing a 2015 Colorado? The knife blade or rotary switch type. What about just removing the neg. battery clamp and securing it away from the terminal?
 
seems to me, if you are using a brake assist system, you would want the battery working to provide brake lights. If you have auxillary brake lights with power from mh, you would be ok.
 
O&M manual say's the battery must be disconnected while flat towing. Something to do with the steering I think.
