Any issues with leaving my 5th wheel hitch hanging from the kingpin of the trailer when not in use?

It seems the most convenient place to leave it, as I need the truck bed space for other things.

I've seen people do it.

IMHO, the htiches are somewhat heavy...even more for a slider.....and that would put
unwanted pressue on the jaws for extended periods of time. I would not do it !!!! I would
sit the hitch on 2 x 4's under the overhang after unhitching.

I've seen it done too, but would not choose to do so myself, because of the continuous stress. Everything should be able to handle the stress, but why have unnecessary stress?

I guess the idea is that you can unpin the hitch from the bed and simply drive the truck out from under hitch & fifth wheel? So that you don't have to manhandle the hitch yourself?  When we drove fifth wheels, my RBW hitch came out in two sections, so neither part was too heavy to handle. I just set them on some boards on the ground, as Suthrn1 suggests.
