2012 Subaru Outback

Everything I have read tells me I cannot modify my 2012 Subaru Outback(automatic) to allow for 4 down towing.  Is this correct?  I do not want a to use a trailer so if I cannot modify her I'll trade her in for something I can pull 4 down.

In 2013 I traded in my 2012 subie AT ( loved driving this car ) on a 2013 CRV AWD so I could tow it 4 down.  You are correct your AT Outback is not towable except on a trailer.  CRVs are only towable 4 down thru 2014.  If I was looking for a new toad today Ford Edge would be my choice.  Dick
 
Having owned an Edge, I would rather have an Explorer. Still towable 4 down.
