Im new here, I hope someone can help me..  I have a 2004 Mandalay 40 d,, Freightliner chassis, cat power,
When plugged in at home "50 amp"  my batteries charge fine, I have a digital volt gage next to my lighter, It reads 13.5 while plugged in..

While boondocking in it this past week, I was using the generator periodically to keep my batteries up.. I noticed the digital gage at 11.9.. I had to use the battery boost to start the gen set.. the gage never moved.. I then had to use the boost to start the engine.. then and only then did it charge the chassis batteries..

While on shore power it seems to use the boost solenoid to connect all the batteries, but on gen just the house batteries seem to charge,

any help will be greatly appreciated.. scott

A lot of motorhomes do not charge the chassis(engine) batteries from shore power or generator.  I solved the problem by using a Trik-L-Start.
