ST. JOHNíS, N.L. ó The cost of taking the ferry that links Nova Scotia with Newfoundland is about to drop.

Marine Atlantic Inc. announced today it will drop its fuel surcharge for bookings after April 1.

Marine Atlantic president Wayne Follett says the decision was made after a quarterly review.

Customers who currently hold reservations with also get a cheaper rate.

In a typical year, the Crown corporationís ferries carry about 500,000 automobiles and more than 400,000 passengers.
