I will be in Yellowstone in Sept. 34' Winnebago with toad. Entering park at east gate and going to Fishing Bridge CG. I will then move to Madison CG.

Problem is that the southern loop will be closed Sept 2  due to bridge replacement at  Craig Pass so the road from the Thumb to Madison will be closed.

Any experienced travelers know the mileage from Fishing Bridge to Madison using a northern route thru Canyon Village, Norris to Madison?

How long for that trip and can I negotiate it in a 34' motorhome?

I will need to back track to exit the park out south gate.

Thanks

It's actually shorter, 40 miles, however there are too many variables to set a specific time.  The north route is my favorite route from West Yellowstone to Fishing Bridge.

As fredbon said, the route via Canyon Village and Norris Canyon Road is 14 miles shorter than the route using Craig Pass.  We usually stay in West Yellowstone, MT when visiting Yellowstone and when we leave to go to the East Entrance we always use the Norris Canyon Road route.  I haul a 35 foot fifth wheel with a crew cab truck and have no issues with that route.

It?s a bummer that you will have to back track to go out the south entrance.  That will be about an 83 mile trip from Madison to the south entrance.
