My HWH model 725 jacks have been fun to deal with for their entire lives. Recently they have refused to work at all. Sometimes I will hear a little "clunk" from the vicinity of the main unit but not always. First time this happened was when attempting to retract the jacks to return home from our winter stay in Florida. Yesterday I went out to exercise them and got the silent treatment once again. I have found that if I wiggle the big connector (picture attached) they will start working. This not an optimum solution.

As with many things electronic or electrical, unplugging them and plugging them back in will sometimes wipe the connectors and restore them to functionality. I would like to do that with this massive connector but am not sure how it comes apart. The red part seems to be a latching device that allows some movement but I am unable to get the connector apart. HWH (helpful folks that they are) tell me I need a special tool to separate this thing and it's not available. Perhaps so but I'm skeptical.

Has anyone had experience with this thing and if so can you offer any advice.

I was having intermittent problems with an HWH system that I had on a previous rig. I figured it was a connection problem of some kind, but didn't know where.  My solution was to go to a truck stop and pick up a spray can of a good quality electrical cleaner (not WD40).  I pulled apart every connection I could find for the HWH system one at a time and sprayed both sides of the connector liberally.

That included the back panel of the master brain panel.  Mine also had a clear plastic cover on the front side of the panel as well. I  took off the plastic cover and sprayed the whole circuit board as well.  I had that rig 2 more years and the problem never reappeared.

Thanks, that gives me confidence that I'm on the right track. I really need to know how get that connector separated without forcing it too much and damaging something.

I know what you mean, but from your pic it really looks like turning the red knob and prying with a small screwdriver would get it apart, but that is just a "WAG".
