Title: 2017 Ram 3500 6.7 Cummins Recall
Post by: butch50 on November 06, 2017, 08:05:17 PM
I don't know if anybody else here got this mail yet from Ram.

It is for a recall for a possible fire in the engine compartment because of a water pump problem. It may fail without any warning and could cause an engine fire

They have no cure for it at this time.

I don't know if this is for any other 2017 Ram Cummins models or not.

Recall: T51/NHTSA 17V-562

Link to the NHTSA report:

There, they mention that "FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall to replace water pumps with
new water pumps with corrective features including a vent hole", so I'd guess a fix is coming real soon now.

In the meantime, replace your Kidde extinguisher?

Please, this is not a bash, but don't you think it's a little ironic, that a WATER pump may cause a fire.  Well, I guess technically it's a failure of a water pump.  But...never mind.

Almost an oxymoron if it was not so serious.
