Title: Alternative Idea to workamping
Post by: KD7ONE on September 08, 2015, 12:42:50 PM
As we know, work camping is the most popular source of income for full timers. However, I'll be willing to bet that those full timers also have hobbies.

Have you tried to turn your hobbies into a business?
You can try selling your products at flea markets around the country http://www.keysfleamarket.com/
Gunshows are also a good way to make a living if you are into gun related stuff. http://www.gunshows-usa.com/
Every state has fairs. http://www.eventsinamerica.com/trade-shows/local-shows-fairs/state-county-fairs/date/100000/
Try some trade shows. http://www.tsnn.com/

You can also set up a web site and sell products online.  If you do not want to warehouse or ship from your RV, you can pay someone to do that for you.

There are also many careers that can  be done part-time and online that pay a lot more than workcamping or selling things at craft fairs.

One idea I have for workcamping is selling precious metals at flea markets and gun shows. https://www.7kmetals.com/trivium

I've never seen anything ruin a good hobby faster than turning it into a business.

Agreed.  I started a small maple sugar hobby this past spring; made 15 gallons of Grade A Light Amber syrup and refuse to sell any of it.  Give it away to family, friends and visitors.  If I start selling, it will become a labor intensive job.

I have a commercial multi-needle embroidery machine. It is strictly a hobby. If someone wants me to do something for them, I ask them to make a donation to Salvation Army or Habitat for Humanity. It just isnít worth the hassle to do it for payment. I do enjoy it, and I do lots and lots of baby presents and monogramming, but mostly it is for friends and family as a present, nothing more.
