Title: Nova Scotia Tall Ships Rendez-vous 2017
Post by: Hfx_Cdn on October 01, 2016, 08:48:34 AM
For those of you who have never attended a Tall Ship get together, I would highly recommend that you plan on coming to Nova Scotia next summer.  I'm sure that there will be a lot of press about the various locations and times, but here is a link to an early summary of what will take place.  However, I'm sure that Halifax Harbour July 28 to August 2, will be the focal point.
While it will be the week before the Natal Day municiple long weekend, campsite likely will be tight and should be booked early.  Here is the link:   http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/tall-ships-rendez-vous-2017-regatta-ports-1.3786613

Any recommendations for campgrounds near Halifax. Sounds like a good take.

There's also the Royal Nova Scotia International Tatoo June 29-July 6.  It's a spectacular fast paced indoor parade/festival at the downtown Halifax sports centre featuring everything from bagpipes and marching bands to gymnasts, acrobats, singers and other acts from around the world.  All of the acts are quick, 3-6 minutes in length and it's truly spectacular.

I was able to attend it several years when a group bus tour of Nova Scotia happened to be in Halifax while it was happening.

Here is a google search: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/tall-ships-rendez-vous-2017-regatta-ports-1.3786613.  Shubie Park is a nice little municipal park in a residential area of Dartmouth, in close proximity to Downtown and well maintained.  Woodhaven is a much larger private park where many previous Forum members have stayed while in the area and is a nice clean park, and I have only driven by Halifax West KOA so have no comment as to what it like.
There are several parks near Peggy's Cove with site right along the water, but they are about an hour's drive from downtown, plus there are several Provincial Parks with similar travelling times to Halifax, but I think most do not offer any hook ups.

Here is a link to a Provincial Park about an hour's drive from the Halifax Waterfront.  It has a limited number of Electric sites.

Ed, you're tempting me, but plans are already made for next year. We do hope to return one more time to the east coast, DC & NYC, and then head north to the Nova Scotia and maybe back to Newfoundland. Maybe 2018.

Ed, your link does not work. The trailing period (.) got left out of the URL!!!

Stu, maybe the techies can help, I have gone back and copied and pasted it several times, tried adding the period, and nothing seems to allow me to get it to work.  It will work if you add the period once you get the whoops from the Chronicle Herald site.

I tried copying it again on this post but it still won't let me add the period????

ED,

For some reason I couldn't make the direct link work either, but the Hyperlink does work.

Modified your message.

Jeff, we have a few trips planned since it is Canada's 150th, but we should be around most of the summer.  Hope to see you if you make it up.

Just found out we will have four granddaughters staying with us for 8-10 days after the family reunion who want to see Boston and New York so no tall ships.
