The RV Forum Virtual Campfire is proud to announce two events prior to the 2010 FMCA Alb Rally for all RVers [not just motorized! 3/19, 21]:

Friday Nt: 5pm Virtual Campfire at the Belen N I-25 Wal*Mart -E Side
Terry Brewer built the last one, Betty may have saved it
6:30pm A rousing gathering at Harla May's Fat Boy Grill for a
fun filled eve. of food, friendship, memorabilia & music!

Sunday Nt 6.30pm Dinner at Gabriel's. Voted best Guacamole in NM by Bob, Russ. . . US 285 N of Santa Fe, 12 +/- miles, E side of hy. Carpool if possible. Happy Hour, 5:30?

In addition to the Belen Wal*Mart, Isletta Lakes RV Park is well located with a Railrunner Station beside the entrance. I-25 & S Broadway, west of the Isletta Casino

In addition to the Belen Wal*Mart, Isletta Lakes RV Park is located well with a Railrunner Station beside the entrance. I-25 & S Broadway, west of the casino

I assume these are places to stay Friday night? We had planned on just going into the holding area, but plans can change.

We were thinking about staying at Sandia Casino for an early arrival but guess we could switch to Isleta. Of course, at the speed we're moving right now, we may barely make it in time for the FMCA rally

These are optional places for Friday --Brewers, Russ and Reiters and? stayed at the Wal*Mart prior to the holding area at the previous FMCA Q gathering.

And now I may be flying in for it --I may have a short term gig in the Who Dat Capital. . . More to follow as the news breaks.

Wendy & Mike, you can't miss Harla May's! The memorabelia is amazing --I tried to describe it to you Wendy at QZ.

Just an FYI about Isleta Lakes RV Park - they DO NOT take reservations!! At least, they did not the last time I checked which was in October of 2009. Strictly first come, first serve.

First of all, what the heck is an "FMCA" rally? We're making our first BIG trip here in a couple weeks, leaving from the Greater Seattle area on Feb. 20 and going south to (north of) LA and then into AZ and NM. We'll be in the NM area around the time of this rally and we'd love to meet all (or most of) those who've answered our many questions for the last 4 months. Thanks.

Family Motor Coach Association holds national and regional rallies. They're a lot of fun with vendor displays, seminars, entertainment, and a whole bunch of motorhome owners hanging around together talking about, well, RVs, among other things. The one we're talking about here is a national rally being held in Albuquerque March 22-25. There will be another national one in Redmond Oregon in August. There are also regional rallies in various parts of the country.

Check out the FMCA website for details. Maybe you'll decide to join us in Abq !

I took Leota on a mystery road trip and spent cloudy Sat journeying to Mountair, Salinas Nat's Monument-Quarai and then the back road to Gabriel's via: Estancia, Moriarty, Stanley, Lamey, the Old Las Vegas Hy, the Old Santa Fe Trail, Camino Del Monte Sol, Canyon Rd, Palace Ave, Paseo del Peralta, Bishop's Lodge on Bishop's Lodge Road, Tesuqué, Rancho Encantado, Chupadero, my old house on the Tesuqué Bosque and finally into Gabriel's for a mid afternoon dinner.

After being greeted by my friend and Mgr Raul, Leota ordered the guacamole and top shelf margaritas while I made a pit stop and checked into space for our gathering. It is ours!

After a typical great Gabriel's meal whose left overs made the hen's happy this AM, we took a walk under the cloudy sky out by the arroyo where Bill Scott saw his first 360 degree Northern NM sunset, Sangre de Cristo's et al.

Taking I-25 back south, at sunset time and we observed a little silver sliver over the Zia mts. At the NM 550 exit the started reddening and the Sanda's turned Sangre and the most glorious sunset covered us all. . .

Me & Mike will be there Sunday, also Friday. We get to Abq on Tuesday for a Wednesday morning VA appointment. Probably stay at Sandia for before FMCA. Just tell us where and when for the pre-rally events and we'll be there.

Tried calling this morning for a reservation and they said sites are first come, first served only. They were supposed to have corrected the website a while ago but haven't gotten roundtoit $:-\$

Left Denver at 3 Friday in a low-visibility snow storm. Ran into ice on I-25 on south side of Pueblo and made a beeline for the Hampton Inn. Left Pueblo this morning at 10 and arrived in Santa Fe at 3. Dinner at 4 with friends. La Quenta in Santa Fe tonight. FMCA tomorrow, perhaps after the vote on health insurance deform.

We're wimping tonight. Tomorrow night, we will spend our first full night in our Roadtrek Adventurous at the FMCA rally. We hope to park with other Roadies who can show us how to turn the lights on!
