Camp Club merging with Passport America
« on: December 05, 2011, 08:55:18 AM »
The two big discount camping programs are merging and Camp Club will become part of Passport America. Current CCA members will receive a PA card and the resort lists will be combined, netting a total increase of 600 parks for CCA members.

Here is the announcement letter

Quote
Dear Camp Club USA Member:

As Chairman of Good Sam Enterprises, I have made a commitment to our loyal members to continuously improve the level of services and benefits we can provide to them. This commitment holds true across all of our clubs and services, including the Good Sam Club, the most trusted brand for RVers, and Camp Club USA, as well as our premier Emergency Roadside Assistance, RV Insurance and Extended Warranty program. In this regard, I have some very important and exciting news to share with you regarding your Camp Club USA membership.

We have negotiated a deal to team with Passport America, whereby you, as a member of Camp Club USA, will have the ability to enjoy the approximately 1,800 campgrounds in the Passport America network where you can save 50% off nightly camping. This combination will provide you with approximately 600 additional campgrounds where you can enjoy discounted camping. As part of this combination, your Camp Club USA membership will be converted to a Passport America membership. We will be working closely with Passport America to insure this transition is a smooth one for you, and going forward we will be offering the Passport America membership to all of our loyal customers and members through our Camping World retail stores and catalogs as well as online.

You either have already received, or will soon receive, a new Passport America membership card, and to show our appreciation for your trust in us, the remaining term of your membership will be extended by Passport America with one additional free month. Additionally, if you elect to extend the term of your membership with Passport America, you will receive a special offer providing you with 3 additional months free. A special toll free phone number (888-522-7519) and email address (Ccusa@PassportAmerica.com) have been established should you have any questions or want to speak to the Passport America team directly. I can assure you will be treated with the greatest of care by their friendly member service team.

If you are already a member of Passport America, you will have the remainder of your membership term in Camp Club USA added to your current Passport America membership with an additional month free. The new membership card you receive will reflect these additional months of membership.

Thank you for your understanding and support of this transition.

Thankfully, Passport America isn't becoming another Affinity Group business.

Hope you all are right.  Haven't seen CCUSA campgrounds incorporated/added to PA site yet but did get my new membership card and renewal opportunity.  CCUSA had more sites in locations we frequent more often.

If you read the new CEO's column in the Highways Magazine, you will see that he is trying to turn the Good Sam image around, and has new things planned for the future.  New benefits, less mail, other stuff not yet mentioned.

I see/hear him say that, but then they still go ahead and do dumb things like unsolicited mailing of the ABC's of RVs DVD + a bill for $12.95. You could send it back if you didn't want to keep it, but sheesh!   Same old GS hard sell and unsolicited mailings. He's talking the talk but perhaps walking the walk is going to be too tough for them. We will wit and see...

I never sent mine back nor did I send them their payment. I received two or three bills but just trashed them. You send me something unsolicited and it's mine--free.

You must have bought from them before.  We didn't and have had very little sent to us.  We are Life Members and several years back we just called them and asked them not to send extra mail, and haven't received anything, except VERY OCCASIONAL insurance stuff.  Which isn't intrusive, if we were looking to change carriers.  Since it has not impacted us in anyway, we continue to support them, as they have granted us what we asked.  He has said it will take some time to get some of the old system to go away, so be patient.  Some things just die hard.  As I've stated  before, I receive much more mail from CITI Bank and several other cc holders.  If those entities would cut back on their mailings they wouldn't need bailouts, and their CEOs would still make their pile of money.

Right now I'm battling Brookstone, and I haven't bought anything from them in over 3 years, even with my unsubscribing.  Guess they are really desparate.

Did anyone receive anything from PA?  I haven't heard a word from PA concerning this nor could I find anything on their website.  Wonder why they haven't said anything?

Yes,  I actually received my new PA card about 3 days ago.  They still haven't updated their campground website yet.

Yesterday the Brookstone store in the Sacramento Airport was demonstrating a remote controlled 4 rotor flying helicopter.  You fly it by tilting your Ipad while simultaneously watching a full screen pilots eye view.

I was seriously tempted.   :(
