Cost of full timing compared to living at home..

Absolutely! We threatened to go last year and changed our minds, so this was going to be the year. A little scary, and excited at the same time! I plan to do a blog post on it when we are about to cross the border.

We just jumped in the deep water early and swam on. We had spent just one night in a motorhome (a smaller Winnebago) and immediately jumped into a 38' diesel pusher and took off. The house had been leased prior to that, and a loud apartment complex did not suit us.

We have never looked back, sold the house to the renter, and just bought another rig, new.

At this time, we have no intention of owning another home, the numbers in this market or anytime soon do not support that kind of investment, and if we get out of the motorhome business, we can always get back into another apartment.

Given the vast amount of pleasure we have enjoyed in living in fourteen states the last two years, you cannot begin to put a price on the freedom, the everyday relaxation, and the pleasure of meeting wonderful people wherever you go.

We could not put a price on peace of mind, so we didn't. We don't think that was a mistake. That cannot be said for everyone, and that's why there's no one way to full time.

Find the sweet spot in whatever decision you make and just enjoy it!

Hi Eric - Sorry to be silent for so long.  Thought I'd have web access on this trip and today is the first time in weeks I actually do!

OK - we have AAA (mostly because we have it for our car), and Good Sams Club.  Good Sams Club is what I would recommend the most as ours has paid for itself many times over.  If you think you are going to go into a lot of campgrounds, you might want to get a KOA membership.  Ask other members about that as we don't have one.  We always find a privately owned campground to stay in if that's the option we're looking at.  I think there is Coachmens??  But not sure if that insurance is only for Coachmen RVs.

Hope this helps!  Good Sams Club has a discounted price for new members so the price varies.

Good Luck!
Paula

I wouldn't recommend either Good Sams or KOA unless there were parks that I knew I want to visit that offered their discount. On the other hand, you don't have to stay long at either one to get your initial investment back.

Passport America is good for 50% off, but times are limited and the parks may not always be your first choice. OTOH $44.00 a year and getting 50% off it only take a few uses to break even, the rest is gravy!

By the way, Their main office is next door to my S&B!
