I did not say to bury it at 18", I said it has to be at least 18" underground. If you are worried bury it deeper. Unless you live in Alaska I doubt there would be any problem since schedule 40 is the standard used all over the country.

I get your points.  Being in the woods in a high humidity environment,  to bury schedule 40 at about 24" works for me.  I just like the little added extra.
Now if I could only determine if the #8 I have is acceptable to use...

#8 THHN would be excellent for a 30 amp run (just a little more than needed).
