Norcold N611 - no longer works on electric

(1/1)

kmsh:
I have a 2003 travel trailer with a Norcold N611 that recently quit working on electric.  It works fine when I switch to LP.
Is there a hidden breaker that needs to be reset, or a fuse that need replacing?

I've checked all breakers and fuses.
the outlet the refrigerator is plugged into has power.

Thanks!

Not sure of this on a Norcold but on Dometics, there is a small black box on the back of the fridge accessible from the door outside. Inside there is a small circuit board with several glass tube type fuses. Check this box for a blown fuse. (On Dometics the fuse is often F7 (5a) that causes this problem.)

Gary RV Roamer:
Norcolds usually have a fuse on the circuit board for the 120v heater. Typically a 5 amp glass cartridge fuse, it is mounted on the board behind the  fridge and accessible through the outside service door.  If that's not blown, then it is the heater element itself.

You can view/download a Norcold N6xx service manual here:

I have the same problem with my refridgerator.  The problem is either the heating element or the PC board.  You can check to see if the heater element is bad by checking the resistance with an ohm meter.  If the reading is between 35 and 50 ohms the element is good and it is the circuit board that is bad.

We had the same problem with ours on our 1990. It was the circuit board. You can have any RV service test the board. It's a quick test. Check the fuse first and that you have power to the outlet that the.fridge plug into. Should find that in the door outside behind the fridge. Boards for that one are between 100 and 200. So sometimes its cheaper to just have them test it to make sure cause if you buy a board you own it.
