Rotten eggs smell
RobertR:
Motor home has strong smell of rotten eggs. I just had recall installed on fridge from Norcold. Never smelled rotten eggs smell before.
Propane leak detector is not going off.
I can smell rotten egg smell inside and under motor home, in the basement compartments.
I am thinking that it has something to do with the recall instilation due to the timing. Is it possible that the new electronics they installed can allow propane to flow while it is not lit?
Used soap and water sprayed all the lines I could find, and don't find any leaks.
SeilerBird:
If you are smelling rotten eggs then under no condition should you use the propane until you get the problem solved. The first question would be do you smell the rotten eggs with the propane off or does it have to be turned on?
When my RV started smelling like rotten eggs I sprayed everywhere with soap bubbles and could not find the leak. So I hired a guy to find it for me and the first thing he sprayed was the regulator and it was where the leak was. He replaced the regulator and the problem was solved. I think that it cost like $15 for the regulator and $50 to get it installed.
A number of people have reported batteries smelling like rotten eggs under certain conditions. So you might wish to smell around the propane tank and the battery compartment.

I would check for a boiling battery ...likely case is split ...that is the smell of a cooking battery...
Tom:
My vote would be for a boiling battery.
RobertR:
You are correct, it was a boiling battery. There are 3 coach batteries hooked together in parallel. The center one was bone dry, the other two still full to the top. Bought all of them at the same time about 1 year ago.
I have solar cells and they were hooked to the center battery. So either the cells were cooking it or its a bad battery. Maybe I'm missing something but I do not see why the solar cells would cook the center battery and not the other two. What possible difference could it make which terminal the solar is hooked to when all 3 batteries are hooked together?
But any way I hooked the positive solar wire to same terminal as battery charger is on , and ditto for negative. Front battery positive back attery negative. See what happens.
Im wondering if I ruined the battery.
