98 Golden Falcon 29RG Holding Tank Capacity

(1/1)

Samtoo:
I recently purchased this 5th wheel but I can't find any info on the holding tank capacity. The fresh water is a 60 gal tank but I can't find any info in the owners manual for grey/black water capacity.  Does anyone know the standard specs for this trailer?

Gary RV Roamer:
Unless you stumble across somebody with the same year and floor plan who has the specs, you probably will have to measure it yourself.  Typically the waste tanks combined would be a bit more than the fresh water capacity, so I would guess something like 30-38 gallon black and 40 gallon gray.

Measuring isn't real hard. Measure out a bucket's capacity (some have gallon-marks on the sides already) and pour a known amount of water in the toilet (black tank) and shower (gray tank) until they are full. Don't rely on the gauge - they are notoriously inaccurate. Fill til you can see water in the toilet and the shower pan. Then you know the tank capacity is a bit less than that. With [mostly] fresh water in the tanks, you can dump them out on the lawn.

Gallonage is academic anyway. The only meaningful measure is how many days of use you get in your normal usage pattern, and how many more if you try to limit your use. You will figure that out after using it a few times.

Lou Schneider:
Or get out your tape measure and measure the size of the tanks.   There are 231 cubic inches in a gallon, so if you measure the tank's length, width and depth in inches, multiply them together then divide by 231 you'll get the approximate capacity in gallons.

For waste tanks you'll have to measure the depth at both ends and average them together since the floor slopes towards the outlet.

Samtoo:
Thank you for the quick response. As you can probably guess we seem to have an inaccurate tank levels system and we are trying to figure out how long we can go without dumping the tanks. I guess I'll need to send the husband under the 5th wheel with a measuring tape  :).

While he is crawling around underneath, have a good look in all the cupboards. They often glue a paper with that info on the inside of a closet or cupboard wall.
