Randy B.:
We live in Southwest Wisconsin. Looking for some places within two hour for our first trip. A weekend trip. Any ideas would be great, Want to have a shakedown cruise!!
Thank you for any input.

If you haven't been to Spring Green - House on the Rock, worth the trip .. will never see anything like it in your life...
Campgrounds down in that area...
Could always do Door County ?
 Could do Green Lake ?
Wis Dells ?
You have Neshonic campgrounds in West salem ... Leon Valley just south of Sparta ( bike trails ?)
Bayfield / Ashland area - Apostal islands ?

Ned:
Those northern Wisconsin destinations are much more than 2 hours away.  I would suggest a trip along the Mississippi River, there are a lot of Corps of Engineers campgrounds that are right on the river.

BernieD:
Whenever we are in WI we try and spend some time in LaCrosse. We drive the Great River Road up and down both sides of the Mississippi, watch the boats go thru the locks, drink beer and eat brats. Life is good.

We recently spent a weekend at Wisconsin Riverside RV Resort in Spring Green. We were in site 7R, which is right on the river. Other than all of the grass being brown due to the drought and high heat this summer, this was a great place. Ours was a shake down cruise as well, getting ready for our big trip this fall to Moab area and Grand Canyon.

There is a restaurant and bar right in the campground, and it has good food. House on the Rock is nice to visit.

By the way, if you have a Cummins diesel, we were treated very well last year by River State Truck & Trailer last fall when we limped from the Dells to La Crosse with an engine problem.

Good luck with your travels, and have fun wherever you decide to go.
