Do you use the adjustable slide lock bars?

(1/2) > >>

Uncle Doug:
When we did the walk through on our new Jayco class C the service tech noted that the coach came with 2 adjustable locking bars for each of the slides. These lock the slide in so that it does not move while in transit. Then he said you really don't need them.

So which is it, do the slides tend to move in transit if not secured in place?

Tom:
Our coach came with slide locks, but we've never used them.YMMV.

Ned:
Our slideout has 2 locking bars and we always use them when moving.  They hold the top of the slideout securely against the side of the coach and add structural integrity to the side wall.

tvman44:
Ours did not come with them and when I asked about that I was told they were not needed.  About 10,000 miles later still do not see a need for them.

Ned:
Not all slideouts need them.  But I believe if the manufacturer supplied them, they should be used.  Some slideouts have automatic locks and don't need the external bar locks.
