Thanks Ron, that is a very impressive set of images. My favorite would be the frozen waterfall. I am no butterfly expert but it looks like you have a Freija Fritillary there.

Some great shots. Quite impressive Bison duel!!! Love the sunrise on GP and the "frozen" waterfall.

Tom:  Thanks for the comments.  I think you are good on the butterfly.  I am not an expert.

Jim:  Looks like you and Tom agree on the waterfall.

Love the pictures, it's hard to believe there is a place this beautiful and a little intimidating (just a little bit) at the same time.

Ron,
Great shots. "F11 and be there" doesn't do you justice.
Yellowstone is on my RV bucket list--this time with a camera other than an Instamatic.
BTW, what are shooting? The spec caption read: "IMG_0282-1_2_3_4_5_fused (Medium).jpg". Is this an in-camera feature, like stitching picts to make a panorama?
Thanks again for the inspiration.

Harry:  The image that you refer to is a HDR or high dynamic range shot composed of 5 images, each with a different exposure to try to duplicate the capabilities of your eye.  The camera can only see about 6 to 7 stops of light.  Using this technique, can produce easily 12 to 15 stops of light which is equivalent to your eye.  It done is a separate piece of software called "Photomatix".

Harry:  In addition, the reason I wanted more stops of light is to bring out the textures in the shadows, which would have simply been black and the teture in the waterfall would have blown out to just plain white.

Great use of HDR. I use another HDR app in architectural photography (for most shots, 3 exposures: 2 stops over and 2 under from my guess of best exposure). I have never tried it when the subject is moving--like water. I don't know why it never occurred to me as I've used longer exposures to increase the volume of a waterfall and in low light situations. Hmmm
Who'd da thunk I'd learn something like that on an RV forum!
Thanks Ron.

You are welcome Harry.  It is surprising at times that we pick up good techniques from unusual places.
