I agree, Gary. Were it not for what it says in the manual, I'd do the same as you. I also find it odd that my engine is governed at 1800 RPM, where most other diesels I know of go up to 2100-2400, but the CAT manual agrees that some versions of the C-13 have that limitation.

Oh well -- I'll continue to go by the manual, but I can't help but wonder if that was a carry-over in the manual from years back when they didn't have computer control. I'll probably never know.
