HDTV installationby Wayne Malone
Forum member Wayne Malone wanted to replace his old tube TV with a high definition LCD system. Being both an engineer and a DIY'er, Wayne was able to replace the metal cabinet that housed the old TV with a wooden cabinet. He also engineered a system to allow the TV to be lowered for normal viewing and raised for storage and travel.
Some pictures of the old TV and metal enclosure.
New wooden shelves and cabinet doors were made from a vanity.
The new TV was mounted on a hinged metal bracket, allowing it to be lowered to a comfortable viewing height.
The new cabinet doors can also be seen above the new TV in this picture.
The hinged bracket allows the TV to be easily raised to its stowed position for travel.
The cover for the TV in the stowed position was made from a cork bulletin board.
The old satellite antenna was replaced with a neww 5-LNB antenna.
