Adding an extra RV fridge wall vent?

Sorry for the delay in responding. Thanks for the input, everybody. The problem I was concerned about had to do with a rather sudden increase in temperature in the lower unit of the fridge. It had been working really good for quite a while and about 2 months ago, it started heating up,  reaching...

Adding an extra RV fridge wall vent?

I have been toying with the idea of adding an extra, high mounted outside wall vent to increase air flow over the coils and cooling fins on our Norcold fridge. Has anybody ever done this and what were the results? It's not a major or expensive project, but I'm wondering if it would be worth the...

    2nd rv??

When you talk boondocking, you should consider things such as tank capacities (water, grey, black, propane), battery capacity and capability (how many amps, 12 volt vs 6 volt-in pairs), storage capacity for clothes food, tools, etc., possible solar panels to recharge batteries. These things will...

Fridge and hot water heater issues

If the water heater is electric or gas/electric, MAKE SURE you have water in the heater. Turning on an electric heater with no water will burnout the heating element in short order. Also, if it's electric and not working, the element may already be gone. Also, if you don't have any manuals on...

    Cracks in Tires

I think you should seriously consider replacing your "4 ply" tires with something heavier, 6, 8 or 10 ply. When you are figuring your weight load on the tires, be sure to include everything and everyone, plus hitch weight, tongue weight, etc. You may be surprised how close you are to their load...

    Tire Pressure Monitoring system

We use an EEZRV system and it works very well. Remember that, if you don't already have them, you'll have to install metal valve stems

    Backup Camera

Personally, I think "backup" camera is the wrong word to use. I prefer to call them "rearview" cameras. Like a lot of people, we have one on our Maverick, and the ability to see traffic that is directly behind us when driving is worth the cost and trouble to install. Even with a trailer, I think...

    Cordless Hammer Recommend

I would suggest that if you decide to buy extra batteries online, be sure that you buy OEM batteries only. In other words, if you go Makita, buy Makita branded batteries. Be very careful, a lot of those "cheap" batteries you will see online are designed to look like their OEM counterparts,BUT...

First TT - Help Us Decide What's Important

You have two situations here. The trailer you decide on will then determine how much truck you need. And the truck you decide on will determine how much trailer you can safely tow. Don't listen to the dealers when you are looking. They'll tell you that your "Prius" can tow that 30' bumper pull...

First TT - Help Us Decide What's Important

I think you'll find that people on here will need more specific info on your tow vehicle.  Make, model, engine, 2 wheel/4wheel drive etc. !/2 ton doesn't really mean a whole lot.

    inverter or batteries?

I just went through this DATA cable vs telephone cable mess a few weeks ago. I needed a short data cable to connect a remote display for our on board surge protector. Couldn't find one anywhere. I bought a short telephone cable and a pack of those small round telephone wire connectors. They are...

    LP Gas Leak Detector Alarm

Is it possible your detector has a back-up battery in case of a power failure and it has been running on this since you killed the power? Now it is telling you it needs to be replaced. I just replaced mine in the kitchen area and it is directly wired (as it should be) with no battery backup.

    We have a dilemma-suggestions welcome

There is another wolf rescue operation, here in Westcliffe, CO (junction of State routes 96 and 69) It's called Mission Wolf and they have a website. As far as I know, no waiting list to visit. Been there for at least 20 years. Can I suggest that you make use of YouTube and view the videos (and...

    Propped tire size question

If you go online and search for something like "tire size comparison" or try Discount Tire or Tire Rack, you can find a program where you enter the sizes of the tires you're comparing and it will give you all types of comparison numbers including differences in height, width, sidewall height...

    tire pressure on fifth wheel

Are you talking about the "max" pressure listed on the tire sidewall or the recommended pressure by the vehicle manufacturer? When you lower the  tire pressure, you lower  the load capacity of the tire. Tires have a built in safety margin over and beyond the max pressure listed on the sidewall.
