    Towing with a RAM 1500

I tow a TT that weighs about 6000 pounds loaded. I have a 2wd Toyota Tundra, with the 5.7 engine and the tow package, and a Blue Ox WDH. It works quite well in the flat lands, but I can see that if we start heading for the big mountains, I need a heavier duty truck. Everybody says a diesel is...

    Shocks/struts on my 07 Tundra

Went and got the trailer today. Big difference in how it felt to tow. The new 10 ply tires and the shocks and struts brought the stability I wanted with my Tundra. No more squishy feeling and no porpoising.

    Shocks/struts on my 07 Tundra

I had the shocks/struts replaced today with OEM gear. Yes, I can now tell that I was due for new shocks/struts. New tires also (10 ply class E Michelins), and had the front end examined carefully. Brakes are new. TT will be ready, after warranty work, on Friday. We'll see how she tows now.

    Dometic fridge acting strange

Update: The dealer has determined that the freezer/fridge needs to be replaced. We should have the TT back home by Saturday.

    Shocks/struts on my 07 Tundra

I went by the Toyota service dept that's been servicing my truck for a few years and discussed the shocks/struts. The guy I talked with is a TT guy, and he suggested that I go with OEM instead of using the TRD spec Bilsteins. Says I don't need the TRD gear since my relatively small TT won't...

TV tires - Michelin 275/65R18 load rating E - pressure when towing

Ok, I see your logic. With the old tires, I ran at 35# front and back and bumped up to 40 when towing the TT. I have the Blue Ox 1000 WDH and went to 40 pounds because it felt a touch squirmy at 35. Felt better at 40. We used to have an old (1966) 26 foot Overlander Airstream. It never felt...

TV tires - Michelin 275/65R18 load rating E - pressure when towing

Yup! High pressure stems. I went to 50 psi and tire contact looks about right. I'll go with that for a while. Kirk

TV tires - Michelin 275/65R18 load rating E - pressure when towing

High pressure stems....I never thought of that. I'll call Discount Tire and ask what they used. They recommended running at 45 psi, by the way. Not in any way suggesting that you are wrong, but you have to admit that it is interesting that I have gotten so many different opinions on the best or...

TV tires - Michelin 275/65R18 load rating E - pressure when towing

I called Michelin again, hoping to find another techie to answer my tire pressure question. This woman was quite helpful and quite knowledgeable. She said the data wasn't easily available on their charts, so she'd have to do the math with her calculator. She took truck weight and type of cab...

TV tires - Michelin 275/65R18 load rating E - pressure when towing

We are relatively new to the TT dragging biz, but learning fast. I was about due for new tires on my Tundra, so I upgraded to E rated 10 ply Michelins. I called Michelin to see what they had to say about operating pressures while towing and not towing. The lady danced around the question and...

Thanks! Hearing from the experienced towing folks is comforting.

    Educate me on brake controllers

I had the Reese unit installed prior to actually buying the TT. It works, so no big worries there, but I've wondered if maybe I should have gotten a better one. It's an under dash unit.

    Educate me on brake controllers

I'm new at TT dragging. We bought a GD Imagine 2150 (about 5000 lbs). The WDS is a Blue Ox 1000. The truck is a Toyota Tundra 2x4 with the towing package and the big engine. The present brake controller is a Reese Pilot, which seems to work Ok, but I am wondering if spending a bit more money...

    Dometic fridge acting strange

Well, they have it now, and say they'll get to it on Thursday. I dragged it up Interstate 35 West to the south side of Fort Worth. We call that freeway "the highway of death", since traffic is very heavy and at 80 mph, and bad wrecks are very common. 18 wheeler traffic is very heavy, and did...
