Shore power only sometimes works; Any Ideas?

Putting it directly on a regular cord makes it work just fine. I left the breaker for the A/C off and ran my coffee maker and TV on the shore power and it seemed to work fine so I've pretty much narrowed it down to the breaker for the A/C or a short in the wiring to to the a/c itself. I think RV...

Shore power only sometimes works; Any Ideas?

My class C doesn't have a microwave and the A/c isn't working so I guess I'll add some other things to the plugs inside or a coffee maker or something. I still wonder why at the A/C unit it shows 0 volts but I get a voltage reading at the plug ins? It seems like the A/C should have at least a...

Shore power only sometimes works; Any Ideas?

I'm using an extension cord with a 12 gauge wire, at first I used one with 14 gauge and the air worked and then I shut it off. I went outside and unplugged the cord and the extension cord was warm, not hot, just above body temperature so I got the bigger cord, now my air quit again. At the...

Shore power only sometimes works; Any Ideas?

Well I posted a topic before because I thought my Air conditioning unit in my Class C stopped working. Well it had actually stopped working but I have found the cause to be intermittent shore power. When hooked to my house with a 30A to 15A adapter the RV only gets power part of the time. I can...

    Air conditioner stopped working; advice?

Ok, I'll go pick a regular RV cord up tomorrow or I'll try to get closer to the plug later, I'm only about 5 feet off but I'm trying to star out of the grass. Will the regular outside plug on my house even hold 15A without any problems? EDIT: Since I found the edit feature I believe I'll use...

    Air conditioner stopped working; advice?

Also, Since I wasn't smart enough or I was too blind to see the edit post feature, What kind of extension cord can I run the a/c unit from? I would like to let it run for a few hours and cool the camper for a test run before I take it out but my yellow extension cord seemed to have gotten warmer...

    Air conditioner stopped working; advice?

well I fixed it. After I took it apart I saw a pretty shoddy job of wiring it in and so i reconnected the wire nuts and taped it all up good and she works perfectly again. Thanks everyone who responded!

    Air conditioner stopped working; advice?

Wow this was VERY helpful! thank you a lot! I haven't been able to get out to check it, its been rainy here and I've had other stuff to do, hopefully this afternoon I can start out and check for the obvious, power. I know it has shore power as everything else works but I'm not sure if the A/C...

    Air conditioner stopped working; advice?

No, not even a sound. I'm going out to check power but it had power and so I doubt since the breaker didn't blow that anything could have happened in the wiring of the RV itself. It seemed odd, it worked fine for a few minutes like I said, it blew warm air at first and then progressively got...

    Air conditioner stopped working; advice?

Last year the coleman roof air on my older class C seemed to work fine. This year I plugged it all up and turned it on only to hear that the compressor seemed to try to kick on but the fan wouldn't spin. I shut it off, took the inside cover off and realized there was a wasps nest in there...

    Memorex audio

I do car and home audio installations in my spare time for extra cash. If you'd just take some pictures of the hole the unit goes in and the wires I could take you through step by step on what you need and how to install it. To tell you the truth paying someone to install any audio device is a...

Water Damage, leak repair; '78 Class C

Thanks for the quick replies, and as to my weight question...I weigh around 200lbs, should I lay plywood or something across the roof to help spread my weight or should I be able to walk across it to lift the a/c unit out? It did not have a ladder from the factory so I'll be using an extension...
