Gday from Australia - a very experienced RV'er Down Under across USA and Canada

Agreed. In a period, 20 bees tings deaths, about the same number of lightning strikes (silly golfers), about 10 shark attacks and 8 crocodile attacks/deaths. In my city of the Gold Coast, we lose more people to falls from high rise balconies each year than the whole of Australia has shark...

Could have been serious - manufacturers are no help

In driving tens of thousands of kilometres across Australia the number of wheel bearing failures (through lack of inspection, replacement, re pack with grease, wrong grade of grease, dodgy seals - Ive seen is amazing.  Boats flying off trailers, caravans (trailers) whipping from side to side and...

The plastic would work for snakes...check thoroughly anytime you leave a tent and come back.  Ive had a foreign armed serviceman severely bitten by a very large angry brown snake that had crawled into his seeping bag.  Always unzip and hang your sleeping back over the tent ridgepole inside or...

    Varmints!

We have millions of camphor laurel trees here (noxious weeds imported from Asia 150 years ago!) - the smell is great -  couldn't hurt to try I guess...they may just make a nest out of it tho'... :-\

Set up telescope on top of camper or RV and you'll be fine! or set up in a tent with a hole for telescope/your head - snakes won't get through any sort of basic tent... easy!

GDay - in Aussie I've used soft cotton pads soaked in either ti-tree oil or eucalyptus oil work a treat..  have to have someone put a few drops of oil in there maybe once a week but they hate the fumes in enclosed spaces - and the motor home smells pretty nice too...

Could have been serious - manufacturers are no help

GDay from Australia. As an ex Air Force Officer, air traffic controller and occasional pilot I'm always concerned about "where the rubber meets the road". On casual inspection of the images supplied those bolts look like rubbish...I would have them inspected and tested to see what type of steel...

Gday from Australia - a very experienced RV'er Down Under across USA and Canada

Hi there. In all the years of bushwalking, being on major exercises out bush when I was in the RAAF Ive only ever seen large nasty snakes about a dozen times. I did step on a sleeping red bellied black once but ir=t was v early in the morning and cold so he didnt stir much. I jumped eighteen...

Hello from New Zealand - your thoughts on private rv rental.

GDay from Australia.  I bought an RV (used) and travelled the USA and Canada for 18 months a while back.  My insurance was going to be very, very expensive - that was until I got a CA Drivers Licence.  Sat the theory test, drove around with a nice DMV person for 45 minutes and there ya go.  75%...

Hi Dean - wish I could help but have sold the Mercedes - wish I'd kept it as I got all sorts of enquiries from USA and Europe when I was on other forums! There would be just comprehensive insurance to sort out...I would, if I had a motorhome to rent out, ask my insurer if a driver on a USA...
