Issues Using Leveling System on Battery

We have the Bigfoot system. Each of the 4 pump draws 70amps. When we got the trailer it had 2-6v with a single 4ga wire supplying power to the hydraulic pumps. After running for 30 seconds the system would shut down due to low voltage. After adding more batteries and upgrading the wire low...

Converting to Lithium Ion batteries ????

The performance of Lithium is far superior to FLA but only if one makes use of the performance. For some not having to check the fluid level in a FLA is enough.  Charging (not discharging) Lithium below 35F reduces the life expectancy and warranties do not match life expectancy claims. Elite...

Relative efficiency Residential fridge vs absorption?

This year we borrowed a 60Q Engel for a couple 10day trips to supplement the 8cuft Norcold in the trailer. https://www.engelcoolers.com/shop/12volt-fridge-freezers.html  When there was abundance of solar we run the Norcold off the inverter.

Replace flex furnace duct with rigid - any tips?

Hi The ducting in our trailer was rebuilt using 4" galv. steel and 3" x 10" registers that have adjustable dampers.  It made a big difference to the air flow. Two - 4" tank heating ducts were added. These can be closed off when there is no risk of the tanks freezing. We haven't been out in...

6 inch Lift, home design and build

That sound good. Gusset on the edge the cross tube. For the time is takes I seal weld. If seal welding isn't in the works I'll clean off the mill scale (grind) preferably before welding the pieces on. After welding the seams are cleaned and then caulked with urethane, then primer/paint. ...

6 inch Lift, home design and build

Very nice work.  Some suggestions Always best to have reinforcing end at the corners of the HSS.  By ending it before the corners the wall of the HSS deflects. Cap the HSS to prevent it from filling with dirt Additional height increases torsion on the frame. Consider adding a side to side...

    Battery Monitor

Inside would solve the temp issue but in our 5th inside it meant moving the inverter or running double 4/0 and we still had the temp issue during storage.  Lithium was my first choice but with our winter trips being down to 0F the tanks and valves are enough of a concern without adding an...

    Battery Monitor

Agreed...setup is more but that wasn't so much of an issue as ensuring Lithium remained above 40F when we are out in (3-4 times a year) temps below 32F. Then in storage it was looking like the best solution was to continually (plugged in) heat Lithium or a secondary solution was to start...

    Battery Monitor

I'd planned on going with Lithium but I found the cost difference of 3 x 200Ah (600Ah) Victron LiPo to be 6 times more than 8x235Ah (940Ah) Crown FLA 6V. The 36 month Victron warranty didn't provide any assurance of a payback from Lithium.

    Waste tote split seam.

A permanent repair can be done. PE welding with either a heat gun or a soldering iron require a commercial (heat) power unit and the seam needs to be gouged so new PE can fill the seam.  Before trying it I'd suggest calling a plastic shop (after a bleach and several water rinses) would do the...
