What it can "tow" and what it can "haul" are two entirely different things with two entirely different limits. Whichever limit is reached FIRST is the controlling factor. A 16,500 lb. fifth wheel camper with a 3300 lb. pin weight (20%) could be pushing the limits of the GVWR.
Glad you got your leak issue remedied. I would advise anyone buying a used or NEW RV or trailer to have a pressurized leak test done before moving the camper off the sales lot, or immediately after purchasing from an individual. It'll cost about $200. Also I would advise getting up on the roof...
If you have a 5-1/2" wide wheel, you could go to the Maxxis M8008 ST215/75R14. That would gain you 110#/tire in load rating. I think you would be better off by going to a 15" wheel so you can have more choices of tires.
My trailer tires were 5 years old, so it was time to replace them. The trailer has two 3500# rated axles. The tires were ST205/75R15 LRC 1820# rating. So they were rated to 1820x2/3500= 104% of the axle rating. The two axles were actually loaded to 6000#, so the tires were loaded to 82% of...
