    Hard top vs. Soft top

Mainly the noise and air conditioning but also less dust with hard top (because of a/c) but remember too less chance of breakins with hard top.  Had toyota FJ 40s in past with both tops and more recently Jeeps, TJ and now JKU.

issues with Ford Escapes just limited to the automatic transmissions?

We bought a new 2010 Mazda Tribute ( same as a Ford Escape ) back in 2011  because it was flat towable. It was a four cylinder, all wheel drive auto tranny. First trip we towed from Central AZ to Moab, UT and the transmission was gone/toasted. Drug it back home and Ford replaced the transmission...

How heavy a safe can you have in a Class C?

Another thought, that much weight can break free and become a deadly missle if you are involved in a collision. A fellow I knew became a victim of that when his Snap-On tool chest broke free in his mobile service van in a wreck, and came foward and crushed him, and they were "held" by grade 8...

How heavy a safe can you have in a Class C?

That is a lot of weight in one small space for an RV, I'd ask the manufacter about that. Maybe they could set a spot over a frame rail to handle it.

I feed mine power from the RV. I have a separate cable from the power recptacle on the toad bumper to the seat area to power the Brake Buddy.

    Rear louvered tailgate

The louvered tailgate will allow air to flow out much easier and reduce turbulence greatly in the pickup bed.  Not to mention the ease of hookup and un-hooking. In fact if anyone needs a louvered tailgate for a '97 or earlier Ford I still have that tail gate  and the truck is long gone.

Window gone... found when parked.. fixing nightmare

How big is big?  You can always use plywood for a temporary fix. I had the upper front window in my class C suddenly break out while going thru Tonapah, NV a few years back. Drove to Pahrump and got some plywood at Home Depot to fix it until I got home.  I will see I can post photos of my temp...

Monument Valley UT to Colorado Springs

Well no lunch stops, only a fast fuel stop and a quick restroom stop. Other than some two lane sections it is a pretty good road. I used to do a lot of 500 mile days, but those were mostly on the intrerstate routes. Not in such as hurry these days. Longest trip with the RV some years back was...

Monument Valley UT to Colorado Springs

We just went from Colorado Springs to Durango then to Cortez a couple of weeks ago. We went from Colorado Springs down I-25 to Walsenburg(sp?) and caught 160 to Durango, I believe that Wolf Creek Pass is about 11,000 feet, but I missed seering the elevation signs. Our class C pulling our 4 door...

    LP Gas score!

Well I will have to brag on our loical area, in Prescott,AZ the Ford dealer sells propane for $1.50 per gallon and the RV dealer across the street is currently at $1.60 per gallon. I can remember back in the 50s and 60s my dad had a propane company/distriborship in northern CA and we sold...

    CH751 Lower Compartment Locks

.Incidentally the locks are made by/for Cutler Hammer, I.E the CH.  Trhey are also used in a lot of electrical cabinets and key switches  from Cutler Hammer. I had one of those keys on my key ring long before I saw them on RVs.

    Antenna Wiring

The TV is probably 75 ohm cable, and if you want it for ham usage, you really want 50 ohm. But it still may work.

Question on changing oil and filters???

This is a great way to go, my local independant mechanic/service shop does this and he even took a 3 gallon (new) container of old peanut oil (for turkey frying) and put it into the tank for burning in his heater, diesel will apply there too.
