    Surge Protection Necessity

Thanks for all the replies. If I remember correctly the one we had was Surge Guard that would just hang too heavy on the receptacle. I probably could have fixed it with zip ties. I might take a serious look for it again. I do remember that it had a series of LED lights that would give an...

GPS detours... to take or not to take?

Even though part of my job involves launching rockets (to include GPS) I'm not really a big fan of GPS. I might do a rolling map (meaning just have the GPS on but not with a route set in the system). When we take trips I study them on Google Maps and go down to street view in questionable...

    Surge Protection Necessity

Just wondering if anyone has lost any electronics due to an electric surge. We bought a surge protector a few years ago that connected to shore power but over time we stopped using it and at the moment I don't even know where it is. We charge phones, have television and DVD/Blue Ray but not...

Ford Electric F150 leads Tesla Cybertruck on appeal.

How far can an electric truck pull a trailer or how fast can it be recharged?  I like the clean energy idea but sometimes we drive 700 miles in a day to go camping.

Towing with a 2018 Toyota Highlander

We have a 2013 Highlander and have pulled a Livin Lite 6x15 Toyhauler with a Goldwing inside that pushed the entire weight to over 4,000 pounds.  On only one occasion we got a transmission cooler overheat light on the dash come on for about one minute.  Then we reached the top of the hill, the...

Greasing the bearings and other wheel issues

Thanks to all for the replies.  I feel better.  I think we will pack up and enjoy the trip and not worry.  However just in case we will be driving by a couple of RV centers if things go real bad.  Our next trip is in state less than a 100 miles away.  Yes it is a Dexter EZ Lube Axle and I...

    RV security

Almost considered voting for only owning a Popup with nothing valuabe in it...which is all true.  However we lock it with the factory key.  Here's the funny part, the factory key for our newer RV is the same as the old RV.  The newer RV is Forest River and the older (Toyhauler) was from Livin...

Greasing the bearings and other wheel issues

We have had our trailer sit for a while (over a year) but it is time to go camping again.  I thought it would be a good idea to grease the bearings (along with some other equipment checks).  Our unit (a little popup from Forest River...not the mini toyhauler in our avatar) has the usual Dexter...

    Westlake tire speed

I'm the Original Poster.  Thanks for the replies.  I must apologize.  I said originally said Westlake tires (which must be on my mind from our previous toy hauler).  What we have is Castle Rock with the following specs (most of which I know but some things I don't): Castle Rock ST 205/175/R14...

    Westlake tire speed

We have an A-Frame (Flagstaff T21DMWHW) with Westlake tires on it.  I find it interesting that it has 75 mph posted on the tire sidewall but I've also heard it said that no one should exceed 65 mph with ST tires of any kind. We inflate to the tire sidewall recommended 50 psi.  We have a Toyota...

    Friend recommended this WD hitch...thoughts?

We have a Blue Ox WD hitch that looks like what you want (including the chains).  It also claims that it is sway control.  All I can say is that we use it all the time and we have never experienced sway.  Backing up is not a problem either.

Anyone have experience with forest river popups, or toyhauler popups?

I don't know why no one visits this part of the forum.  I have posted here in the past and was never answered. Yes we have a Forest River / Flagstaff T21 DMHW.  It is hard walls which is nice however I'm sure it would not stop an angry/hungry bear.  It is creatively designed but built to a...

    cape canaveral launch?

Sorry for chiming in late.  There is a Wal Mart in Viera (I-95, exit 191) that allows an RV to overnight.  The premium spot to camp would be Jetty Park but that fills quickly. Deciding on planning camping around a launch is a real gamble.  Some launches have up to a 50% scrub rate.  I've seen a...

    Star Trek

I'm not surprised that a group of RV owners would prefer Star Trek over Star Wars.  Star Trek seemed to be more mobile with a very definable form a transportation (the Enterprise) going all over the Galaxy...such an adventure!  Star Wars seem to mostly take place on planets (or death stars)...

What is the farthest you have traveled

We live in Central Florida and we have been all over Central Florida and North Florida.  Ironically we have never camped in the adjacent states (Georgia, Alabama) but have camped beyond (Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee and even Kentucky).  Even at trailer speeds we go 600-700 miles when...
