    Plan Road trip

We went last year but later in the season (Sept)  Stayed in flagstaff and day tripped to GC and other sites.  Had no problems with sites, but you want to plan ahead in July.  More travelers.  If going again, I would repeat the same plans.  I would not try to stay right at the GC.  Pick an area...

If you have a hitch on your tow vehicle or toad, just hook it over the ball and pull to the dump station.  Bob

Backroads to Brevard NC from Orlando FL area?

I have traveled from both Fl coasts to Waynesville area of NC for past 25 years.  I dislike any of the interstate combos you can take, and have enjoyed all of the many combos of bck roads you can select to make the trip.  Take you time and take it careful. Bob

    automatic awnings?

Have had both.  Won't have another auto.  I liked the push of a button, but did not like the lack of adjustment.  Auto wind retract didn't work worth spit.  Went up with mild breeze and then didn't move when wind was strong enough to do damage that cost me a bunch. Bob

    V10 versus V8

I have the V10.  Good power plant and pulls well.  It does get thirsty but don't they all.  (Pulled a 5er with duramax and allison - best transmissionI have ever run) I have no question that if all things were equal I would want a diesel pusher, but all things aren't equal.  You will get into...

Roof tear - any ideas on cost/difficulty of repair?

I agree with Molaker.  The tear should readily be repaired with eternabond.  As he said, CLEAN and follow directions.  The question does remain about the seam.  Looks like there might be some structural damage done.  I suppose you could clean and caulk it to death, but I think I would want that...

    Best surface for parking RV

I parked on the grass for a couple of years.  Killed the grass, had trouble with bugs, but didn't hurt anything else.  The post on tires and concrete is a new one to me.  Hasn't hurt my car or truck tires over the years.  Bob

What is most damaging to the exterior of our rv, summer or winter?

I can't speak to the winter issue, but I know that our Fl sun can tear the finish (especially graphics) up.  I try to wax at least 3 times per year, and on the sun side (we have an RV lot) I use protect all on the graphics.  This seems to do the trick.  Bob

    SlideOut Toppers

Jim Good point.  Where I am under a bunch of falling stuff, I have been known to get the step ladder and brush or hose off.  The majority of the time, there is nothing over the unit (a lot of campgrounds without nice shade) and have had no problem.  Whole bunch of money to replace, and not a lot...

    How about car dolly?

I am new to this forum.  Have years of camping in towables, but am now switching to 31' Class C.  Most of the discussion here seems to be with flat towing.  I am leaning toward a dolly as it is less investment than preping my car (Malibu that I am  told is towable).  I also like the idea of...

    PLEASE HELP! Awning Stain

My experience echos the last two posts.  You need bleach, and then learn to appreciate patterns.  (The stains won't hurt the awning)

Sleep number purchasing & installation question

We have the sleep number at home and love it.  I would contact the sleep number store nearest and get their advice.  I am a camping world fan, but don't expect it to be the cheapest.  Will probably be on the other end of the spectrum. Bob

Quality-wise, is one brand motorhome better than another?

How well any of them hold up depends on how well you care for it.  High end or low, they all need care and will all fall apart if ignored.  I have had entry level to full time, and there have been problems that had to be fixed, and problems that were avoided by routine and preventive maintenance.
