2005 Duromax Diesel GMC 2500 Mileage?

Just got my 06 GMC Duramax.  I have not driven it all that much and only towed once.  I love the power and stability over my old Tundra.  I think my mileage is mid teens so far....but it came with some tires that are all terrain and a little big...not huge but I think that's hurting the MPG and...

    BBQ cookoffs

Well me and my buddy did one other BBQ cook off but without the trailer.  Me and the wife just got a brand new Jayco Eagle and there is no way she would want me taking that and letting a bunch of dirty guys stay in it for a weekend!  The cook out we went to there were tons of RVs and I missed...

    Towing a longer trailer?

By the way I don't have problems with opinions and never said I did....I was just making some observations mostly based on your posts.  I hope you don't have a problem with mine.

    Towing a longer trailer?

The question originally I asked actually had nothing to do with the trailer/TV set up.  The direction of the thread went that way and that's fine.

    Towing a longer trailer?

From a cost perspective there is no reason to upgrade to a bigger truck if the one you have will do the job and do it safely.  Any way you slice it my truck has at least 10% to 20% more capacity than I'm going to use.  It can handle the job and it will be safe.  I won't be going over any...

    Has anyone joined "Passport America?"

I looked into it but it would not really work out for me.  Most places only offer the deals on weekdays and we mostly camp weekends.  I can see how it would work great for retirees and those that can take extended trips.

    Towing a longer trailer?

Thanks for the replys.  I live in Texas and don't plan on being able to make any trips outside the state for a long time so mostly flat land or small hills towing.  I think the Tundra will do ok...if I need air bags to keep it level I'll get them.  Hopefully the WDH will be enough.  I'll need to...

    Towing a longer trailer?

I estimate the new trailer around 8500 loaded.  I'm going to see how my Tundra does with it.  I know it will pull it but may end up getting new tires and air bags.  Otherwise I'll look for a used diesel F250.

    Towing a longer trailer?

I currently have a 27'TT....I'm comfortable towing it. We just put in an order for a 35' TT! I'm a bit nervous about towing something that long. Of course I was nervous about how I'd do with the first one and I've been able to handle it just fine. Is it that much more challenging to tow a...

    4x4 vs 4x2 question

I use my truck as a TV as well as to take it when I go hunting.  4 wheel drive comes in handle more in the off road rides to hunting spots but I've also had 2 times where I was glad I had it when towing.  The first time I was at my father in laws where I had it stored at his ranch in a...

Got it home, Packing it up, what now?

I hate packing...that's my wife's department but she over packs I feel like.  For us the first day we got ours we went on a short 20 minute trip to a CoE park by our local lake and did just one night.  We learned a lot doing that and figured out items that we should have for next time.  The good...

    Wow What a gas spike

Well to address the subject of the gas spike I would attribute it to supply and demand.  There has been greater demand over the 4th of July holiday and following weekend.  I heard on the radio that a AAA study was showing that more people were planning on traveling partly because of the lower...

    BBQ cookoffs

Anyone on here into competitive BBQ cook-off events?  Good friend and I have been doing a little bit of it in the past but now I have a TT and he has a badass trailer BBQ pit.  I've slept in RVs in the past at some BBQ cook offs but it was before I was even into RVs so I don't even know if they...

    New to RVing

I agree with buying used entry level.  You won't really know what you want until you start doing it.  We just bought our first in Feb and are having a ball so far but I already have a list of things I want for the next one.  Overall we really like what we have now but I'm going to sell in in 3...
