Help a newbie: best motorhome to withstand outdoor storage in Alberta (cold/snow

Looking to buy my first motorhome (used and private sale).  I'm not sure where to start.  2 adults and 2 kids in Alberta where it will be stored outside in the cold and snow.  Trips will be 2 weeks max plus weekend trips. Is there any point considering a Class A? I ask because they are a lot...

    Is this TT too long?

Thanks folks -- I thought 24' would be a bit long for stability but I'll focus on the weight.  I like your analysis -- I'll keep it under 6000 GVWR  for a good safety margin.  I believe my Ford has a max 8000 lb towing capacity but I'll double check it.

    Is this TT too long?

Hi all, young family of 4 here and safety is top of mind.  I have a '98 Ford Expedition 5.4 with tow package, and want to move from a 21' TT to a 24' TT.  I've read a few threads about overall length of TT relative to tow vehicle.  Am I pushing it with a 24' trailer with my Ford?  I want a...

2001 Thor Wanderer Glide Lite- Comments?

Looking at a couple of used trailers (private sales).  One is a 2001 Thor Wanderer Glide Lite 24' with manual slide and bunks for $7500.  I'm not looking for the best quality trailer, but I have no idea where Wanderer ranks in the Thor line-up.  Any comments appreciated.

    Rubber Roof (Trail-Lite) Durable?

Thanks very much, that's helpful.  Turns out the roof is "RV 2000 Vinyl."  I've searched around but haven't found any information.  Is this just another version of a rubber roof?  Vinyl would seem to be easier to repair, but I'm not sure.

    Rubber Roof (Trail-Lite) Durable?

Hi all -- considering the purchase of a 98 Trail-Lite for $6k.  Hoping to get your thoughts on the durability of the rubber roof.  It will soon be 10 years old.  Are rubber roofs problematic over time? Are they very expensive to fix or replace if need be?

Buying used trailer in the winter

Hi all -- going to buy my first RV (travel trailer) this winter when hopefully the price will be lower.  However, not sure how I can test the water heater or the AC (perhaps turn on the furnace, then the AC)? Are there other factors I'm not considering when looking at an already winterized unit...

Considering an older trailer -- problems to expect?

Hi all, first time soon-to-be rv'er here.  I'm thinking about buying an early 90's travel trailer from a private seller, Aljo, Nash, Fleetwood, Forest River, whichever I can find the best deal on.  Is this a risky proposition? I know that maintenance is key, but are there hidden dangers in...
