    Funny noise

driftless shifter The latest is that it has been diagnosed as ring and pinon gears.  Also, found water pump was leaking and the power steering pump.  Insurance will send someone out tomorrow to inspect the diagnosis to allow processing of my needs. Chuck

    Funny noise

Another thing, I have Good Sam Extended Service Insurance.  If I were not to do this repair now and I had problems down the road would this be considered a preexisting condition.  Today is the first time I have had it diagnosed and  the noise has not been a major factor in the past.  Maybe I'm...

    Funny noise

Talked to another mechanic today and his thought is that differential bearings are where the noise is coming from.  Not the center bearing.  He noted it is only while accelerating and if not changed and they go out, the repair would be much more than doing it now.  Still lots of money, but...

    Dash camera

I had posted before that I was thing about buying a dash camera.  I have looked at lots of sites and spoken to some local companies about p0roduct they supply.  One local company suggested a JVC Adixxion GC-XA1, with a price that was out of my league.  Today just looking around I found this...

    Funny noise

While driving my 1999 Safari Trek on a P32 chassis I hear a whine while driving.  It is annoying, but not so much it has to be taken care of right away, I don't think.  I think it is probably the center bearing on the drive line.  My mechanic says I should just wait until it really develops into...

    Adding battery storage

When I bought my 1999 Safari Trek it came with 2 -12 volt house batteries.  This configuration didn't come close to filling my needs.  These batteries are under the entry step.  I had a new support frame made to allow 4 - 6 volt golf cart batteries to be installed.  With lots of head butting...

Any one using a dashboard camera?

Dewat, Your iTroncis ITB-100HD looks very interesting.  Don't like paying so much, but sometimes it is worth it.  The current prices are showing at about $239.  I would be using this in a MH, so no rear view mirror to attach to.  Would like to be able to mount it on something portable so it...

    TPMS and tire pressure

All tires are 225/70R 19.5 rated G, max pressure 110#.  Original tires were rated F.  Would expect the G rating would be a stronger tire with perhaps a slightly lessor ride comfort, being a little stiffer.  I have always run the front axle at about 90# and the rear duals at 85#.  Try to keep...

    TPMS and tire pressure

OK, I received my TST TPMS and have them installed.  Next question and has always been a  question to me, not really understanding how to apply the Michelin charts, is what is proper?  With this new system allowing constant monitoring I would like others opinions regarding proper pressure...

    How to get more power?

Before going with the Gear Vendor I checked with Banks in about 2000 and they don't support Chevy diesel before Duramax.  I have checked with them again and they still don't. I checked with several performance shops and have been told they do not have exhaust or intake parts and said they...

    How to get more power?

I did have to have an inspection station check several years ago.  I believe it was just a safety thing.  No checks with connections to exhaust or anything else that I can remember.  Believe they did check the fuel cap to see is it was sealing properly.  Of course, California will be one of the...

    How to get more power?

I have a 1999 Safari Trek with a 6.5L Chevy diesel engine.  One thing that I have always felt, is that it is underpowered for the unit weight.  Since the time I have owned it, I have tried different things trying to get better performance.  I have added a Gear Vendor splitter with great...

    TPMS

I have seen several comments regarding the best TPMS for motorhomes.  My questions is which type to buy?  I belief that some units have internal sensors and others use sensors attached to the stem.  From a security stand point it would seem an internal sensor would be the better way to go to...

    House batteries

Well, I hate admit it, but pilot error sometimes gets in the way.  Guess I could blame it on eye sight or age. Like, check everything first before anything else. Can you believe I had the switch for the side view mirror heaters in the on position.  With amp on it was drawing about 5 amps. ...

    House batteries

An update of what I have done to so far.  I put the clamp-on meter on the battery cable, removed one fuse at a time and didn't note any change in the amp usage after removing and reinstalling the fuse.  Did disconnect the solar panels and connected to shore power over night to charge the...
