    Slideout woes

After searching, I can't find a similar post, so: The "living room" slideout on our 2006 Winnebago View gave a little thump at the end of its extension and later refused to retract. The motor hums along, but nothing happens. I leaned backwards against it, and it slid in manually so we could...

    Mending Tape for RV Cover

Does anyone have a recommendation for how to mend an RV cover? They usually cost a few hundred dollars and in the intense Southwest sun tend to rot out in a couple of years. Our current one is heavy canvas and in good shape except for two rips. I'm hoping to extend the cover's life, maybe with...

    Vent cover replacement

I, too, replaced a Fantastic vent fan cover with a locally sourced part. It installed easily enough but has never fit flush. No problem, since we don't get much rain here, and the vent is right over the toilet, should we luck out and have a drencher.

    Norcold, again

Resurrecting the Norcold litany: recent boondocking trips have had us using propane powering. For its own personal reasons, the Norcold has chosen to fail to reignite during the night, leaving me with one eye on the power light on the front of the fridge during what would normally be sleep time...

    Sprinter Mechanic, San Diego

If you own a Sprinter-based View, you probably know how difficult it can be to find a qualified Sprinter technician to work on it if it's more than changing a windshield wiper. I just had a good experience in getting fairly major work done and wanted to pass on the info. Performance Automotive...

    Post a joke

If you can't think of a word, say "I forgot the English word for it." That way people will think you're bilingual instead of an idiot.

    Post a joke

Okay, one more. If 2020 was a math word-problem:  If you're going down a river at 2 MPH and your canoe loses a wheel, how much pancake mix would you need to re-shingle your roof?

    Post a joke

The devil whispered to me, "I'm coming for you."  I whispered back, "Bring pizza."

    Steps Not Working

I'm the original poster, asking for suggestions when my 2006 Winnebago View steps quit working. There were several responses which I greatly appreciated and considered carefully. Proceeding as I do in most things, I decided to wait and think about it for a while before doing anything major...

    Post a joke

This elevated my self-esteem considerably. If yours is needing a boost, maybe it will help yours, too. No matter how stupid you feel, just remember that Little Red Riding Hood couldn?t figure out that a talking wolf in drag wasn?t her grandmother.

    Steps Not Working

The automatic steps on our 2006 View suddenly quit. I've checked the electrical connections and fuses and switches and found nothing askew. The yellow light under the steps works, also. I've also downloaded the manual, which includes some very involved troubleshooting advice. I'm guessing the...

    Pre-Purchase Inspection Mechanic

A spectacular single-mother friend in San Diego needs a mechanic to inspect an older, but promising, RV that she's considering buying. Any recommendations would be appreciated. She's worth a helping hand. Thanks.

    Awnings?

My first RV had awnings on both sides. I used them once. My second RV (37') had a large one; I used it once because it was there. My current RV has one, but I never use it. I sit on whichever side isn't in the sun. The awning is tricky and subject to problems. Much easier to ignore it.

    Campground Voltage

I happened to look at the voltage monitor plugged into a 110 receptacle last week when the A/C was running, and it was well into the red at about 106v. When I turned the A/C off, it bounced back to 115. With the electric water heater on (only), it was about 107. As I recall, this is an issue...

    Rear skirt?

Old topic or not, I was glad to see it. My solid rubber skirt dragged the ground when backing from the storage area in my yard to the extent that it was making it difficult to get out. It's uphill, and the skirt nearly lifts the back of the MV off the ground when backing. I finally just removed...
