Travel trailer vs fifth wheel in terms of road safety (blowing around)?

I post this only as an example of what inexperience and immaturity (24) can make you try.  My first RV experience was towing a 20' single axle tt, with a 6 cylinder Pontiac Tempest with a 2 speed automatic transmission.  Thought nothing of heading from VT to Nova Scotia with some friends.  We...

    suggestions please!

We make the 84 portion of this trip every time we visit our daughter on the Outer Banks in NC.  We prefer to use 84 to 691 near Cheshire, CT, 691 to 91 north and back to 84.  This will bypass Hartford and a not so nice section of 84.

    Bennington to Brattleboro

I assume you have brakes on the trailer.  If so, you would probably be OK.  It is a pretty steep, winding road, and it is two lane, with a climbing lane in a couple of places.  There aren't any really better choices.  Route 30 to the north and route 2 in MA are just as tricky.  The easiest way...

Dont want to share the rv with relatives!!

I will cast a strong vote for running away from this situation.  My wife and her brother own a small cottage on the ocean and it is a constant source of family tension.  Even though the finances are set in stone, the use and on-going housekeeping are a total nightmare.

    Camping in New Hampshire

Have not been there, but it looks like it may depend on who you ask, and what bothers/pleases folks. http://www.rvparkreviews.com/regions/New_Hampshire/Hampton_Falls.html

Class C Window windshield and side window covers

Had my class c for 9 years and the windshield cover held up great, even outside through New England winters.  Came with the coach and went with it when we traded.  I think you will find that the majority of covers came off the shelf, not custom made.  Class a'd are another story - tough to find...

Class C Window windshield and side window covers

You really don't need custom covers.  Your coach is built on a standard chassis and you can get universal ones at any RV store.  You can get a variety from Camping World or a local store for under $50...

Should I get bunks or use sofa?

If you could go to 27.6, you should be able to find a rig with bunks, dinette, and sofa.  This is just one floor plan I found. http://www.flaggrv.com/rv/west+boylston+ma/keystone+traveltrailer/6141/keystone+outback+250trs

Scoping out possibility of some engine mods. Worth it?

I cannot argue with Banks quality, as that is a given.  However, after having a full Banks, including Transcommand,  would never do it again.  The installation was on my 01 class c, with the 2 valve V-10.  IMHO, the improvement in power was just not there.  The Transcommand did improve shift...

    Nexus RV

It appears that Nexus makes a great product with good pricing.  I am disappointed that I was not able to get close on a deal due to trade-in value.  They deal wholesale for wholesale and that just won't work for me.  Might take a shot a selling my rig outright.

    Insurance

I have always maintained that having a good agent is as important, perhaps more important, than the insurance company itself.  The agent should be your advocate in all dealings with the companies. If they are not, find a new one.

    Outer Banks ??'s

The ferry link in my first post did not work.  I changed it, and re-posted here. http://www.ncdot.gov/ferry/ The trip from Ocracoke to the mainland (Swan Quarter) is two hours and forty five minutes on average.
