What does it cost to RV? What to say

I look at it as "how much do I spend full timing? " not counting larger individual expenditures. Since we are on a cash basis (no financing) that pretty much captures all costs. Over the ten plus years we full timed on the road (say 2010 to 2020) we went from about $50K to $70K actually spent...

    Trip to Bourbon Street

I'll reiterate my earlier comment that Duval street in Key West is what you'd get if you cleaned up Bourbon street (in both senses). Ernie

I wish they had these tire for motorhomes.

Reasons would include: High unsprung weight Steep stiffness curve vs inflated Rated load is fixed vs adjustable by changing pressure Likely much stiffer than convential Likely more easily damaged Etc, etc, ... Ernie

    9 Purchases Retirees Often Regret

I grew up broke and decided early that I'd live reasonably. While never wanting for anything (after leaving the Army), I've lived reasonably and saved all along the way. Even after the dilution of two divorces Tara and I retired comfortably. I augmented my social security by working to 70 (eight...

    Flying with a pet

My wife and son just flew from Ft Myers to Dickenson ND via Denver. Both took their small dogs in carriers w/o any questions. Both were also permitted to hold their pets in their laps for at least part of the trip. Ernie

    Frustration trying to buy jeans

I have two pair of Levy's bought years ago and never worn. Today I wear lined shorts (/bathingsuits) with a seven inch inseam. Three colors (black, blue, and grey) and all the same brand. I've not worn any other pants for at least two years! Ernie Shirts are collared tee's of the same brand...

    Quit smoking

Hi, Just browsing early in this thread and I noticed that I posted back in 2012 about having stopped my four pack a day habit 25 years earlier. I'm 81 today and still only suffering mild COPD! Not a bad return for having dropped a nasty habit! STAY WITH IT, Ernie

LCI Leveling jacks fail - help!

FYI we bought a mh with a similar system in about 1912 (winny DP). Verified it worked and then used the mh for ten years, including five years FT w/o ever using the levelers again until we sold the unit. We asked for level spots and used them. Ernie

I spent 15 years traveling the country in a dp. Finally settled down in a parks model for the duration. All good things come to an end!! South FL is hardly a hardship at this point ans it attracts our children and grands (four are visiting now).; kinda perfect. Ernie

Coleman e3 battery and electrical options

Just a thought; if the batteries are secured it may be a PITA to remove them from the box to add distilled water. Advantage AGM! Ernie

    Who made a career change?

After working for 55+ years I can honestly say I never had a job that I didn't enjoy, for more than a couple of weeks: I first worked a few months in shoe factories and then got the urge to travel and moved to FL (from ME) as a dishwasher. I quickly upgraded to cook and then chef. This held up...

What is typically easier to tow and set up: MH with toad or TV with Travel Trailer

I'd suggest you consider the full timers selection; generally strongly biased toward 4down, against the overall lower cost of the trailer tow. My choice has been 4 down but cost is not that significant a factor for us. Ernie
