    Clean Your Awning

The awning was getting very dirty and I have wondered how to clean it.  I did not want to risk any damage by using a wrong cleaning agent. I was at the marina the other day and discovered 303 Fabric Cleaner. It is made by Sumbrella and does a great job.  The awning looks almost new.  Read...

Will this truck tow my 5th wheel?

Duallys are only available on one ton and up trucks.  No 3/4 ton trucks come from the factory with Duallys. For a 5th wheeler that size, I would only consider a one ton truck, except perhaps a Chevy 2500HD.

personal safety while on the road

As another said, we had one issue many years ago, and a gun would have made us feel more secure, but we would certainly not have used it in that situation.  Had the situation gotten out of control, I am guessing if I had a gun I might have used it, as that was long before cell phones, so...

    New Travel Trailer

Lots of opinions on Camping World here.  I bought my Class C at Camping World for the same reason, there is a Camping World in most major cities.  You need to do some home work on price so you'll know if the CW price is competitive. I generally buy my RV supplies at WalMart.  CW prices tend to...

Need some advice on a AC unit

A little off topic, but here goes anyway. I think some of the best money we spent on our motor home was the electric heat strip in the A/C unit.  We have used it many, many, times.  It has saved us many gallons of propane. In any future RV purchases we will be sure to have them installed.

How hot are the tires suppose to get on a 29ft Class C

My tire pressure monitoring system also reports tire temperature.  I can set the temperature for the point an alarm will sound to alert me of possible trouble.  I had no idea what temperature to use, so I called the folks at: http://www.tsttruck.com/Product_List.html where I purchased the...

    Bicycle & Tricycle rack

We have one similar to this: http://www.discountramps.com/hitch-mounted-cargo-carrier.htm I am able to get the trike on it, although one of the rear trike wheels has to sit on the Class C bumper, as it is wider than the platform.  I have loaded the trike plus one adult and 2 child sized...

    Leaving fresh water tank empty

Thanks to both of you for the replies. I will make a mix of water and chlorine and get it pumped into the fresh water tank. I have a 40 gallon tank.  Perhaps 3-4 ounces of chlorine would do it?

    Preventive roof maintenance

That is how I do it.  Part of my Spring Cleaning.  Mix up some Spin N Span in a bucket of water, rinse down the roof and then use the Spic N Span with a sponge and clean the entire roof, including roof vents, A/C cover, etc.  Then I give everything a good rinsing, including the sides and end...

    Leaving fresh water tank empty

So how does one add chlorine to the water?  I have an enclosed water system (no outside fill nozzle).  I only put water in it when I am at home on city water, or at a campground that I verify is on city water.  Is there odor free chlorine? Years ago we filled the fresh water tank at a private...

    Thunderstorms...

This topic does make me think!  Apparently that does not happen to often as I recall a recent experience of a strong thunder storm while we were camping in the mountains.  We do have a weather alert radio, so we knew the storm was approaching. Did we take down the awning? - no.  I did drive...

Something everyone should know about Coach Net

I have AAA RV+.  I first got it for all the motorcycle touring I would do around the country.  AAA required me to get the RV+ for the motorcycle, since a motorcycle requires a flatbed tow truck.  It now covers my Class C, which is 24', bumper to bumper.  It also would require a flatbed tow...

    brand

Actually, Berkshire is a current model diesel pusher from Forest River.  We have good friends who own an 390QS.  It is a very nice unit and they have not experienced any significant issues with it. http://www.forestriverinc.com/nd/default22.asp?nav=rec&page=berkshire&choice=brochure

Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone and Glacier Parks

While in WA: Grand Coulee Dam in eastern WA is worth a visit.  There is a nice visitor's center and a tour of the dam is available. Consider visiting Mt. Rainier.  The mountain is beautiful and there is a very nice visitor's center. Be sure to spend some time at MT. Saint Helens.  You can...
