    Battery Type - Brand

yes, I have a yellow top in my jeep and it is still going strong for 6 years now, and powering a lot of DC devices. I did install two group 24 Optima Blue Top AGM's and a 150 watt solar panel. I have only tested it in the driveway, but for days as if we were camping and all is working great. ...

    Battery Type - Brand

thanks all! VallAndMo, I've actually used two Trojan 6-volt wet batteries for many years, but with this new RV and limited space to place batteries I chose the sealed AGM.  I have ran Optima yellow tops in my jeeps for years and have grown to like them. So far the dual Optima's are working...

    Battery Type - Brand

Hmm, I wasn't able to find anything.  I know they are great batteries, but haven't read any reviews. I want to get sealed maintenance free AGM's.  I know Interstate Batteries makes them too.

Is anyone using Optima deep cycle RV batteries, and further, maintained by Solar? I'm about to select a 150 watt solar panel kit and two new deep cycle batteries.  I was going to go with 6 volt batteries but I don't see a 6 volt option from Optima however. Thanks,

    Charging Chassis Battery

I used to have the problem of a low engine starting battery if the coach sat too long between trips.  My coach happens to have a lot of items connected to it that draw power constantly.  I installed a small battery tender in the chassis battery compartment and ran an extension cord from there to...

    Fan clutch

Hello, just getting ready to leave for two weeks, I spotted oil dripping down one of the fan blades...this is a 2006 GM Kodiak C5500 with the 8.1 L gas motor.  Is there oil or hydro fluid inside the fan clutch assembly that could leak past a seal?

    Alison transmission Leak

Thanks for the responses all...I have followed the trans lines from tranny to radiator and external cooler and can say the lines and connections are good.  The leak is definitely coming from the rear seal as advised by the first tech that looked at it when we first discovered the leak. ...

It is a GM...and not going back to this shop.

    Alison transmission Leak

Thanks guys, Bill, good point..."Oil leaks almost never travel up or forward. So leaks are generally foward of the oil stream, and no higher than the beginning of if. Think gravity and wind pushing, down and back."  I did wonder if the tranny does have a relief somewhere high, naturally, the...

    Alison transmission Leak

Greetings, a short while ago we had the radiator replaced under a purchased extended warranty.  The radiator had a slow antifreeze leak during summer months.  We had it replaced the week before a planned work related 800 mile round trip. Before the new radiator the transmission ran at about 140...

    US Gear Unified Tow Brake

Thanks all for the quick replies.  I cant imagine that this unit is anything less than superior, which is why I chose it in the first place. This jeep is for sale as I bought another one.  I will definitely check as Marsha suggests how quickly it releases, that seams like a logical cause.  The...

    US Gear Unified Tow Brake

Greetings. I have a question and observation about Toad Brake Systems.  This application is a Super C motorhome weighing in at 20k lbs.  the jeep being towed is 5k lbs.  I chose the US Gear Unified Tow Brake because it uses the power brakes on the TOAD. Does anyone here use the US Gear UTB? ...

Exactly!  And how much money you are willing to spend. :o

    Minimum 4-wheeling equipment

Agreed, kevlar tires are superior...cost could be an issue.  I would love to budget these some day for my Jeep.  The military uses them on Hum-vees for good reason!  I have had great luck with my BFG's though, and I work them pretty hard. I have replaced tires with 20K+ miles of tread left...
