I have owned both.  Biggest advantage is the engine brakes and air breaks on the diesel  you can drive slower and still get there. Stopping and not hitting something is more important.

Kind of a simple thing, but are you sure that you are getting power from the generator to the unit? Would be sad to run that far with the breaker on the gen off.

I had to change my whole blower at $1800.00. I though that it had been changed 3 years ago. However, it had been 5 years. I will be sure to change mine ever 2-3 years now.

Biltmore is nice. Plan on spending at least 1/2 day. We took the ferry from Cedar Creek to Okracoke and then took the free ferry to Hatteras.  However, we spent 2 weeks. With only 5 days I might head to Hatteras pretty quick.
