    Custom Truck Bed

Looking for any information on different manufacturers of custom truck beds.  Currently I'm favoring the Highwayman RV hauler bed:  https://www.highwayproducts.com/c/truck-service-bodies/p/highwayman-rv-hauler/ Any experience would be appreciated.

    Cat in the RV

My cat Smokey was not happy riding in the car.  On one particular trip he was sitting between the two front seats of the car sort of squatting on the armrest.  I found out later that, in fact, he was squatting and peeing in my coffee cup.  The lid was on and he filled it up.  Quite glad I didn't...

Do you have a motorcycle with you?

We haven't done it yet but are considering a dolly that has motorcycle mounts in front of the towed car. http://www.tandem-tow.com/HDXL.htm

    Motorcycle Question

One option we're looking at is a dolly tow with the motorcycles cross loaded.  At destination can switch to tow the dolly with the Jeep if needed.  http://www.tandem-tow.com/HDXL.htm

Electrical Brown Out -- Inadvertent Problem caused by Surge Protector

Update:  the Hughes Autoformer is working great!  It's in the boost mode almost all the time.  Frank, the brown out you're referring to is the exact thing I was dealing with except I had a Progressive that shut the power down to protect everything from that brownout.

Electrical Brown Out -- Inadvertent Problem caused by Surge Protector

Thanks.  Didn't understand your short statement until I've done more work trying to find a solution.  Clearly this is IT!  For the others in the thread or other newbies with the same problem:  John identified the solution to low voltage from the grid.  It is an "autoformer" which is simply a...

Electrical Brown Out -- Inadvertent Problem caused by Surge Protector

Understood on all counts; did not come to this conclusion lightly.  In a bygone era I was a radar and radio technician so have a fairly good background (albeit dated) on electronics. However we're in a fixed campground with chronic low voltage and that's a fact of life.  Running the generator...

Electrical Brown Out -- Inadvertent Problem caused by Surge Protector

Had a Progressive Industries hardwired 30 amp unit installed to protect against bad electrical inputs.  So far it saved us from a lost ground and when our bus bar burned through which required the entire pedestal be replaced.  However it also caused a major problem:  our campground has an...

    Pileated Woodpecker

I had a couple trees that I needed to cut down but I left them as 20' stumps.  My woodpeckers LOVE them!  They are really tearing them up!  Squirrels play on them as well but the woodpeckers and their ilk really like those stumps.  We're selling and full timing soon and they are the one's I'll...

    One Second After

That's a pretty good book.  I AM a prepper.  Grew up as a Boy Scout and Army brat.  Lots of exposure to what can go wrong in peoples lives as a firefighter too.  My sister hasn't been one to REALLY embrace prepping (unlike her husband and brothers) but after reading this she's fully on board. ...

    Buy older and Renovate?

Geez, I guess our rig is antiquated not simply old!  We bought a 1993 Class A rig from my wife's father (guess that makes him my father in law - I'm just not used to saying such things!)  With a fairly well-known history and a list of known maintenance and repairs to be done I was comfortable...

New Remodel Start to Finish - Total Beginner!

Very inspirational!  Now that the tub's been sitting a bit are you still happy with the refinish?  Any suggestions?  We have an older travel trailer that has a dingy tub.  That refinish may just brighten up the room a bit.  I'll definitely start my projects a little smaller than yours!

    Canoe or kayak

As others have said, Tandem kayaks can be troublesome for inexperienced paddlers.  There are models with a compartment between the paddlers which distances you far enough apart that you aren't hitting paddles.  They are, however, VERY long boats and cumbersome to handle outside of the water...
