JMHO, but I would send it back to Blue Ox.  From a safety perspective it is worth it.  You will have a like new unit with updates.

Inboard boat engines have a type of heat shield/insulation.  Go visit a boat dealer and see if they any material and how to fasten it.

Have you tried bringing the Patriot unit into the MH and plugging it into a 12V outlet overnight? With no need for brakeing, it may charge up.  How old is it?

Both roofs are white. FG easier to maintain. Rubber will streak the side walls more. FG might be a little louder in rain.  If punchured, both can be repaired with Eterna Bond.  Caulking strips off FG better when re-caulking seams etc.  Opinion is from my experiences. FWIW.

They are most likely draft openings to provide heat to a basement area.  Also good for checking wire or plumbing if needed.  I have found them good for fishing wires for added accessories.

I would check and clean all the terminals that plug into the controller.  Its a black box close to the motor.  Be carefull not to be in an area the can injure you if the step activates while you are under it. The fact that the steps works should mean that the motor is likely good.  Also check...
