V10 engine head problems? Minnie Winnie 29 problems?

The sparkplug problem was on the first generation 275 hp V10 engines.  In 2000 Ford brought out the 310 hp version with 8 threads to hold the sparkplugs in place rather than the 4 on the first generation.

    Be Careful buying Goodyear tires

Your experience is definately NOT a Goodyear Goodyear Company corporate policy.  I bought a set of 4 tires for our 04 Jeep Wrangler last fall, and another set of 4 tires for our Ford Expedition less than 3 weeks ago.  Both times I was asked whether or not I wanted to purchase an extended...

Shower walls loose at ends, HELP!!

We have a continuing problem with the caulking in our shower so I did some research on the 3M and other Marine caulking products.  Everyone I found said not to use it on plastic or vinyl.  They all work well on steel, aluminum, fiberglass, and wood, but specifically say to avoid getting it on...

what is the difference between Itasca and Winnebago

I would agree with the first post.  If you go to the Winnebago site:  ( http://www.winnebagoind.com/ ) and take a look at similar models in the Winnebago and Itasca lines you'll find some things standard on the Itasca model are optional (if even available) on the Winebago model.  That being said...

    Rust under compartment door

The idea of stainless replacement parts sounds good in theory, but how many people would really be interested in paying the price differential.  In most cases stainless parts would run 2 1/2 times the cost of those made of mild steel.  Our coach is going on 9 years old and has never needed a...

    Runnin' With The Boy's

The electronic speed governors have been around for a while.  I believe our 01 Adventurer on the Ford chassis is limited to 84 mph.  In our case there's no electronic message comming across the dash.  Those who have hit the limit (I've never tried) say it feels like someone shut off the power. ...

    Battery Boost Switch

From John Canfield "In general, paralleling batteries is a terrible idea - a problem in one cell of one battery can cause the entire bank to completely discharge, or fool the charger into thinking the batteries are discharged and it then pumps lots of current into the banks and causes gassing."...

Tach install on an Onan generator??

It sounds like Sarge wants to use the tachometer to monitor the speed of the engine so he can calculate the fuel consumption.  It also appears that he intends to vary the load to minimize consumption.  It doesn't sound like he has any intention of trying to manually manipulate the engine speed...

    Battery Boost Switch

I agree paralleling all the batteries may have a potential downside; however it's the only way to recharge the chassis battery in our coach short of running the engine for several hours or adding a seperate charger.  Under normal conditions it would require the engine to be running a minimum of...

    Battery Boost Switch

Off hand I can't think of any negatives for leaving the switch in the boost position when hooked to shore power.  You just have to remember to put it in the "normal" position when you drive the coach.  That's why I added the pilot light.  I'm sure by now I would have forgotten to flip the switch...

    Shortning an Awning

Something you should be aware of is the fact that there are 2 torsion springs in the tube (one attached to each end cap).  Before you start cutting the tube be sure both springs will still fit in the new shortened length without running into each other.  It would be a bummer to get it all cut to...

Tach install on an Onan generator??

If you really "need" to know the engine speed try one of these: http://www.tinytach.com/tinytach/diesel.php At $95.00 they're not exactly cheap, but they will give you the information you're looking for

    Battery Boost Switch

We took another route to insure all batteries can be charged by shore power.  We replaced the momentary switch with a 3 position one (per a suggestion of a Winnebago rep at the 2008 GNR).  In the "normal" operating position (the lower end of the switch depressed) the alternator charges both...

How often should brake fluid be changed?

The "Scheduled Maintenance Guide" that came with out 01 01 Adventurer doesn't cover anything on a vehicle as large as the F53 chassis.  It's a generic guide meant for cars, minivans, light trucks, sport utilities, and vans. Our coach did however come with a a "Owners Guide Motorhome Class A...

    KONI FSD Shocks

I can't believe the original shocks on a 12 year old coach with 42,000 miles would still be performing up to standard.  The OEM shocks on our 01 Adventurer on the Ford F53 chassis were shot in 3 years and 22,000 miles.  3 of the 4 had leaked out all the fluid and could be easily extended and...
